An article was just published in the Journal of Experimental Botany about the analysis of 28 ounces of plant material recovered from the grave of a shaman in western China. Scientists concluded that the material was Cannabis Sativa, that it was cultivated and had been grown for psychopharmacological use and still contained various degraded compounds derived from THC. There was almost no material from male plants included. They tried to germinate some seeds but had no results after 21 days. There is a great picture of amber trichomes on a green leaf. It's great mindblowing science. Here's the link:

how did they know the guys eyes were blue?

lol
They've been discovering spectacularly preserved bodies in the desert out there for some time. You can definitely still tell the eye color. The Chinese aren't so enthusiastic about having them studied in detail, because they mostly have caucasoid features (blond hair, blue eyes, narrow skulls) which challenges the notion that those regions have always been 'Chinese'.

i agree with the latter; but i've never seen an example where eye color didn't degrade, even when things freeze to death. i could see genetic study being done, but they make it sound like they walked up on a guy dead for 3000 years, and said, "yep, blond hair, blue eyes".

just strikes me as amusing :p

Too bad they couldn't germ those seeds. I bet they would have yielded plants bearing fluorescent green nugz that, when smoked, will preserve your body for thousands of years.

don't be an ass, i simply made a statement silly

Lighten up bud! This is toke n talk.

You are right about eye color. I was in Western China last fall and saw some of the mummies in the museum in Urumqi, though. You can tell from 10 feet away that they are definitely not Chinese. Light brown hair and long delicate faces. And their clothing looked more like what you think of plains indians wearing; mocassins, embroidered leggings. . . .

Maybe when the aliens visited earth to build the pyramids they scattered some native american corpses throughout china to fuck with our heads. Maybe the chinese are the aliens, and they took over a once peaceful blonde haired, blue eyed culture that already resided there. Oh the possibilities...
