2by2 top yield

I have no experience with autos, so this recommendation is for photo plants. SOG with as many 2 liter bottles that will fit (16?) for pots. Grow in coco (preferably) or soil. Pick a strain that is known for growing a single cola, 12-12 from seed if using seeds. If using clones veg them until they are 8-9" tall then flower them. If all goes well, these plants <could> yield an oz per plant. SOG is known to produce the highest yield in the shortest time.

Another way would be to grow 1 to 4 plants in a scrog. The higher the number of plants, the shorter the required veg time.

I agree, you have a shit ton of light for the area.

Mine the same size. I grow one big auto tons of LST and start a seed about 3 weeks from chop.

It’s a 600 HPS. So no it doesn’t burn your plants etc. the plant loves the light. 6oz dry in about 10 weeks. But starting another seed 3 weeks early means another 6 oz every 7 weeks now.

Think of your space as the canopy. One big one or 10 small ones the canopy is the canopy.

I like this idea, sounds good in theory, but have you ever tried it yourself or know someone who managed to grow this way? Would 2 liter pots really work? What about root bound and stunted growth? Also, 16 pots? Not really sure I can fit this many pots in a 2by2, but I'll try and see, have nothing to lose. And would one plant with one main cola yield an oz in a 2 liter pot? I need some more details about this method, but it sounds good.

Thanks for your time!

I ran a SOG with single cola plants in 6 inch pots for 10 years. You can fit 16 in a 2x2and it will be tight but it’s doable. The issue at that point would actually become environmental control. Maxing the canopy leaves no extra room for any fans or anything.

But anyway, I used clones because it’s the more uniform way to do it, but you can 12/12 from seed as well. With clones I vegged for 1-3 weeks depending on strain, to let the clone get well rooted and about 7-8 inches tall. Then put them into flower. They would stretch and end up as 24-30 inch plants with mostly one main cola. Typically I removed lower branches to encourage the single cola growth and to push the growth upward to the main cola. Growing like this I managed to get average yields between 20-30g per plant(again depending on strain), and produced zero larf buds.

Thank you very much, this one was helpful, good to know.
From your experience, what strains worked the best?

Hybrids with a nice balance of sativa and Indica. I ran a white widow for 4 years that always yielded between 25-30g per plant. It needed 10-11 weeks of flowering to get finished and was awesome smoke that I wish I still had around.

Training methods, or any particular preferences? A scrog maybe? How would you do it, more specific..
I tried scrog my very first grow and did not like it. I like to move my plants and fuck around with them too much to ever do scrog again. Now I just top once and keep it tied down.

LST works fine. 16 plants in one 2x2 that’s crazy. You see what 1 can do 16 isn’t going to be much better when you can stretch 1 or 2 out and not need all the dirt seeds and nutrients.

Its not just a case of thinking about end weight what in let out let ya uusin. Most autos I have done grow pretty dam big .So like a few have said I do one perhaps 2 in smart pots ,but scrog them.I starting a small grow my self soon ,not autos .But I am just gonna flop after 3 week from seed

I haven't grown a sog, but have grown pretty decent plants in small containers. This one netted 38 grams dry, grown 12-12 from seed in a 16 oz cup.

This one was 27 grams.

People talk about rootbound, but it won't be a problem unless you veg too long. YOU WILL GET TIRED OF WATERING 16 plants in small containers. I like the 2 liter bottles idea - they have a small footprint, but still hold a half gallon of soil or coco.

Another thought is to run a sog in a DWC tote. Get the biggest tote that fits in your 2x2 and run 16 or so 3" netpots. That would save you from having to water once or twice everyday, but you will probably be topping off the reservoir every day.

I have grown a few scrogs and didn't really love it. The plants have to veg for a month or so to fill the screen before flowering and while there are a lot of bud sites, they were smaller and not the easiest flowers to trim. In the end, scrogs take longer to grow and I dont think they will out yield a proper sog.

Give the sog ideas some consideration. If you can pull an ounce per plant x 16 plants, that's a pound in a 2x2. That, my friend, is a heroic amount of bud from that small of a grow area.

No matter what method you use to grow, you will need to get a high yielding strain/phenotype. My current grow is in a little 2x3 cabinet and will yield in excess of a pound this round now that I have selected a great pheno.
