2nd Grow. Low Yield. Help?

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum, but a seasoned outdoor grower. Last year, I took the plunge and decided to start growing a few plants indoors. All three plants in my first grow did okay but compared to my usual outdoor ladies, the yield was very disappointing.

I'm just about to harvest my second grow and despite making some adjustments, I'm once again disappointed in the yield.

Here's my setup (grow room is quite small - an unused loo/water closet with extractor fan for ventilation)

2-gallon containers
Multi-purpose compost with added John Innes
Envirolite 2nd Generation Single Lamp Reflector with Mirror
200w 6400K CFL White/Blue Spectrum Lamp for Propogation and
Growing
200w 2700K CFL Red Spectrum Lamp for Flowering
SAGARMATHA SEEDS Indica XXL Feminized

Temperature has been a steady 75F.
Water every or every other day as needed (tested with "finger" method).

Nutrients:
Veg: Miracle Grow (for Tomatoes & Veg)
Flowering: Miracle Gro Blossom Booster

I'm not one to prune unnecessarily - just take off what's ready to come off.

I've planted these same seeds outdoors so I know what they're capable of. Indoor grow produced about half the yield. But I'm not about to give up!!!

Any suggestions for third grow? Seed suggestions? Container size? What about my lighting?

Thanks everyone. :blsmoke:

Bro ur almost always gonna yeild more outside..But if u want bigger nugs loose the cfls and get bigger contains 5gallon buckets maybe different nutes and different soil..JMO..Best of luck bro

Thanks. My wallet won't allow me to invest in a more expensive set-up so I'm pretty limited to the CFLs.

I see there's a CFL sub-forum, so I'll post the same thread there!

Thanks again.

Yes there's no way you'll be happy with cfl's being used to OD plants.

It's up to you....400,600,1,000 hid lights are what you will need to put that smile on your face at harvest. But you will also have to deal with ventilation to deal with heat and dding fresh air.

Loose the mirror...white flat paint or mylar would be better choices.

Move up to at least 3 gl pots.

You already sound as if you know how to grow a plant so....

I had the same problem with my CFL grows. Its the lights, they are way too weak to get dense nugs. My last grow was one plant, 3-4 ft tall under 6 really high powered CFL's and it only produce 13 fucking grams, but that 13 grams a large jelly jar. You need a stronger light like high pressure sodium, or metal halide, the best light is the sun though.

more light = more yield
bigger pot = bigger yield
choosing a high yield strain = more yield
vegging longer = more yield
giving the right nutes, checking ph and temps will avoid problems so won't reduce your yield

happy growing :D

From what you are telling us I'd say you are getting great yields. Or poor yields outside.
Everything in your grow room is undersized.
Your roots have got to be "bound" in two gallon pots. Think about how much bigger your outside roots are. Unless doing a SOG, 5 gallon pots are the least you should use.
LST growing may help get a little more light to your plants.
Don't bud more than a couple at a time. You don't have the light for it. Even then one would be better.
Unless you put a ton of money and watts into your lighting. Then a ton into cooling. You just aren't going to get outdoor yields. And do you really want to veg as long as you did outside?
Honestly if you are getting a onuce off this setup you should be proud.
If I could offer a suggestion?
Try to work on a veg room/area where you can have multiple plants ready to semd to bud. Add a few more 26 wt. CFLs to your bud room and add a plant every two weeks with the one in the middle getting the most light. Harvest one plant every two weeks. No bigger yield but a constant flow of small amounts.

I have a small grow room, Downstairs toilet, about 2 ft by 4ft, I just finished my first grow from it. 1 Strawberry Haze, Vegged for 8 wks from seed, then flowered for 14 weeks, Planted in 8 gallon pot filled with canna coco under one 400w HPS. Finished at just over 6ft yielding 6.75oz's. I am very happy with that although a lot of the lower buds were a bit airey.
I started the veg with a 200w cfl like you, I was given the 400w hps and within an hour of turning it on the plant looked a lot more perky than it ever did under the cfl.

400's will produce good buds....hell a buddy rocks the shit out of a 250 hps.

Bigger lights.....you can kinda let the plants be with minimal or no training, pruning etc.

Training, pruning, topping etc etc...........is a must as light penetration gets weaker as wattage gets lower.

With a 400 24 inch bushes at chop would be my goal.Yields will improve, more nugs vs larf.
