2x4 striplight veg tent overkill

I talked about my plans to make this quite a while ago however I have been very busy with school and also was hit with thrips the combination of which had me stop my grow for the past three months.
Today I finally finished my new strip light build and wanted to show off what I have put many many hours of work into.
Here are some pics of the lights maiden voyage as well as a pic to display the heatsinks being used, the power is turned all the way down, they get much brighter.
The strips being used are Bridgelux thrive 5000k and the power supply is a HLG-320H-42A

Looks pretty sweet to me! I ran 300w of spider farmers (sf1000 & sf2000) in a 2x4 with a couple autos, and didn’t run into any issues at full power.

Thank you! I put a lot of work into this. I do intend on turning the power up, at one point in time I had 4 HLG 132 panels in this same tent using it as a flower tent (as shown in my profile pic)

Building DIY lights is so satisfying. Especially when nothing goes pop. I can't believe you bolted your strips on never seen that before!
It is really satisfying to finally see it on. How do people normally attach them? Maybe next time I will build it a different way lol, drilling all those holes and putting every plastic washer on every bolt made assembly take way longer than I expected.

The way you did is is the best and bulletproof / never gonna have a problem way.
Many use thermal tape but then it seem frequent to have them come loose over time :peace:

Nice work!! I built something similar using Samsung F strips. I bolted mine as well, but I just used aluminum rulers for heatsinks. Drilling through a flat surface is a lot easier than drilling through something with fins on the back side. Did that one time with a qb288 heat sink, no thanks :lol:

My original plan was to get L or flat aluminum but I wound up being able to get these heatsinks for cheaper than flat or L aluminum of the same width at the time (I live near HeatsinkUSA and managed to get a deal). I have a drill press so drilling through the fins wasn't too hard, was fairly time consuming though.
