i actually came up with a solution right after i posted my last entry. i have been tinkering with the temperature dial all night andi think i have it almost perfect. it is set at about 89-90F. my co2 valve turns on for about 4 minutes then the fan kicks on for about 10 mins. i think 90F is reasonable as well as the amount of co2. also with the amount of air my fan evacuates i believe i am in the clear. cross our fingers.

thanks kush_smoker- i feel things are in pretty good harmony.

i may change my resevoir a few days early due to white lipid-like substance floating in the water. i feel these may be due to biological growth in my resevoir. im confident b/c i mix nutes very well by turning my pump on at the bottom, disconnected while i do work in the tent.

i remove the plants due to safety purposes. i feel like punching something when i break a branch.

oh yea. i have some pictures to post. enjoy

seanec- thanks for the compliment.

i have a hard time deciding when flowering begins. on july 1st stretching was almost finished and preflowers formed at the nodes. on july 16th i started this thread and pistils were packing on fast. i am inclined to have july 15th as the first day of flower. does anybody have an opinion? i don't want to put myself back 2 weeks in this grow.

so to answer your question.... it is either 24 days into flowering or 10 days flowering. i'd appreciate some help determining a proper date. thanks.

god damn those things are growing quick.. i'd imagine your keeping your tent zipped up the entire time???? what are the temps outside your room. My temps have been great with minimal circulation, but i keep the tent open and the A/C helps.
So if my ambient temps in the room are at about 75 how much hotter would the tent be with the 400 batwing. in other words, how much should i expect the heat to rise? I still have yet to move off of fluros so, Like i said I'm gonna have alot of q's. about your set up.
But the plants are looking fantastic!!! I can't believe how big they look compared to mine considering it's the same tent. Love the fan and filter set-up. I can't wait to see how you make out with yield. If all goes well, I'm stealing your idea for my spot. Good job

ataxia-power to you brother. i really like that you see things in my tent that u want to try.

as far as talking about temps and lighting i dont want to give a wrong answer-but, if you want to run HID lighting in your area i really have to recommend getting a decent exhaust fan. 170cfm works great. then closing up the tent because that will help regulate temps. i will give an example: i close my tent then close the closet doors and run my exhaust ducting through a crack in the door to my extra bedroom. i think u already understand the process i am using but here comes my point... when the air leaves the closet it mixes with "ambient" temps in my house-cooling the hot air that will be used again. also 170cfm is way more than i need for a 2x4x5 area therefore it evacuates all the air extremely quick, i think this is very important when growing in such a small area.

to answer your other question on how much temps will differ/rise in the tent from "ambient" room temps. if sealed with no ventilation it will just rise and rise and rise. lol. if u leave the door open with no AC running temp and humidity will rise moderately to 85-90F. i believe if u leave the door open with the ac running temps should not exceed 85F with a 400w HPS inside your tent.

hope this helps-if i neglected anything you asked or equipment/setup you use-let me know

seanec-thanks for replying. 25 days flowering as of 1 hr ago. lol.

the only reason i was confused about flowering time is cuz i've heard so many different things from RIU users. i have been told 3 different things: flowering starts when 12/12 begins, flowering starts when *preflowers show at nodes, and flowering begins when dozens of pistils are visible. i'm glad to hear my grow is further along than day 10 flower. to be honest in other grows i didnt keep up with the linear age of my plants. i just look at it and say "that bitch is coming down" lol.

i know i shouldn't call them bitches, but i use the term loosely and don't mean it in a derogotory way. i'm very playful and the girls(mjplants)know it. ANYWAYS..

i changed the water in my reservoir. i probably left 15% old water and replaced 85% with new-just an eyeball estimate. i will allow this to run for (1) 15 minute cycle to flush. then add nutes

i have a few pictures to post as well... one is of the plants lined up in my bathroom in descending order like i have in many other posts. the other 2 pictures are of my clones in a 7" humidity dome and tray. 1 looks dead but the others look decent. i'll admit i dont have much success cloning with my low-tech method.

i remove the humidity dome once a day for a few minutes to allow air exchange but other than that i just let them sit.

shazada- thanks for the compliment

tonight after my 15 minute cycle of "clean" water i added 15ml of bloom and 5ml of ripe per gallon to my water. i also took 2 more clones. plants are looking great-AK48 packs on more and more pistils each day. not much to update just telling ya where im at

following are photos of my mother plant. i have taken 4 clones from her, topped, and culled old growth. she's doing very well.

i'm still waiting for my clones to root but cant wait.

my clones have rooted! i just get kind of antsy waiting for a clone to root. will it root? will it not? you know. anyways- i have a few pictures of them to update with. they are all perky and geting green. you can see little white hairs coming from the peat moss.

i wanted to get some opinions about doing a sea of green.

i would use 3 gallon grow bags much like my current setup only instead of having 3 flowering plants offset by a perpetual grow, i'd be growing (6) clones vegged a week all flowered at once for a harvest every 2-3 months. if i pulled 1.5-2 ozs per plant that would be 9-12 ozs per grow cycle. i would keep a mother and take clones to accommodate my grow space.

with my current setup i can harvest 3-4ozs per plant-and i harvest once a month. so basically i will get the same yields. its just that the (6) clones would be easier to maintain b/c they would be on the same feeding schedule. growing using clones vegged a week would allow for a shorter more uniform canopy. my current plants get awfully close to the light. light penetration is also an issue.

the only positive i have for flowering 3 plants is the smaller actual number of plants i posess. but if i get caught its really all the same.

How's the white background working out for you? I just gave my grow box a few bright white coats of paint.
works really great. i feel as though flat white disperses light well. no hot spots. something like 85% reflectivity. mylar can have hot spots.
i would recommend white walls but remember flat white as opposed to gloss.
