I noticed a little bit of calcium deficiency on 2 plants so I increased my ppm from 650 to 840. I'll report back results in a couple days on the strength change. I'm pumping cold air into my flower room from outside now that mother nature's offering free ac. The problem though is outside temps are wildly swinging day to day which means I have to constantly monitor the temp and increase or decrease my speed controller as needed.

Those days are over. For under $20 I snagged a temperature switch off amazon.

Set it to 80 degrees F and it's working beautifully. Gotta swap out an electric receptacle today that has one port not working. I'm effing done after that.

The LED readout is red so the temp doesn't show up in a photo. Nice little device. I have the temp probe hanging about 12" below the 660w qb.20211020_150924.jpg

I noticed a magnesium deficiency developing on 2 plants. Little rust looking dots on the big fan leaves at the tops. Yellowed tips on new growth with yellowing fan leaves with dark veins. All telltale signs of a mag deficiency. It happened because I was running my fertilizer strength too low and I omitted the epsom salt from my jack's 321 formula. Bad move. While some strains don't need as much others need a considerable amount. Without it deficiencies develop. I compounded the problem by keeping the lights dialed up too strong. I fixed the res yesterday by adding epsom salt at the recommended rate of 1.1g/gallon then watered all the hydro plants with the new solution. I also reduced power on all lights to a more sensible level for vegetative growth. They already look a bit happier. High intensity lighting coupled with a fertilizer issue is a recipe for bad stuff to happen. Won't make that mistake again. I'll give it 2 or 3 days to see how things shape up. If all is right with the world then I'm good to go. If I continue to see issues I'll be mixing a res of maxi grow and switching the affected plants to it for the rest of the grow cycle while keeping the others on jack's. I feel my issue was operator error and not the fault of the jack's. We'll see what happens over the next 3 days.

Just bought a quart of venerate cg and regalia cg. Venerate is a great IPM product that can be used to the end of flower like spinosad. Regalia toughens up the plants immune system and protects against fungal and bacterial diseases as well as PM. I've never experienced PM, but a tougher immune system sounds great to me.

A pic of the vegging ladies

I applied regalia to 3 vegging plants in another nursery yesterday @2tbsp/gallon. No damage of any kind. I used slightly more than 50% of the recommended dose. I'll continue using that rate for the rest of the garden. I sprayed spinosad on everything today except 2 plants that got citric acid @2tsp/qt as an experiment. I used the citric before but at 3tsp/quart and I think it was too strong for small plants. It didn't cause damage but it did seem to make them droop slightly for a couple days before they popped out of it. If 2tsp/quart works without issue I'll incorporate it into my IPM with spinosad, venerate, and forbid. I'll spray with regalia once/week.

I really like the coco so far. Great growth. I used the paint sprayer to apply my last 2 IPM products and it is fantastic! I'd never grow without one again. I just got in and out of the flower room in less than 15 minutes using the paint sprayer. Pump sprayers aren't bad but they're very cumbersome to use. Constant pumping, lugging around a big heavy tank of solution, and sometimes the output is so strong the solution hits my lights. The paint sprayer emits a lot of very fine mist but it doesn't travel further than 16" or so.

I'll come back with pics tomorrow to see how the citric acid performed. I'm looking forward to seeing how the addition of epsom salt to my res makes a difference in the deficiency I'm seeing on the 2 problem plants. Hoping for the best.
