3x3 315watt CMH SCROG GG#4, Duct Tape, Double Dosido, and Watermelon Zkittlz

I started the Duct tape and GG#4 clones under LED light from thier mothers. Double Dosi and Watermelon Zkittlz are new from the dispensary. I clipped some branches and they are showing root nubs. My tent is full so I flipped to 12/12 yesterday.

I have some yellow sticky traps up for fungus gnats, I am trying to kill them ASAP as they are annoying. Any tips?

I've tried the beneficial nematodes "nem attack" about a month ago and it didn't seem to make a dent. I'm letting the soil dry out between watering.

I've had good success with Gnatrol. "GNATROL WDG BTI kills fungus gnats soil/hydroponic OMRI organic". You can get a bag on ebay and add a bit to your water.

Per the listing:

Gnatrol WDG (Water Dispersible Granule) is a highly effective, natural biological control for fungus gnats. It contains a variety of bacillus thuringiensis bacteria that kills gnat larvae, breaking the life cycle. The larvae absorb the Gnatrol, stop eating immediately and die, usually within 24 hours. Although Gnatrol does not kill adult fungus gnats, once the larvae is killed, the adults will quickly die off.

Mix the granules with water and apply as a soil drench or add to the nutrient solution of your hydroponic growing system. Use ¼ teaspoon to 1 1/2 teaspoons per gallon of water, depending on severity of infestation. Repeat weekly for about three weeks so that you catch all the larvae as they hatch from the eggs.

@Umbra40 I'll order the Gnatrol... for now I have Mosquito Bits, which is the same active ingredient, BTI. Do you use it every watering?
Thanks for reminding me, I just put some Mosquito Bits down on my plants now... and the rest of my house plants. A part of this fungus gnat problem is that I have a ton of house plants as well as my clones. So they just have so much space to call home. I miss one and boom 300 appear right when I thought I was done...

@Cboat38 are you using undiluted 70% alcohol? Say a tsp or so of soap in a spray bottle?

I tried the mosquito bits before and they didn't work nearly as well for me. You could try letting them soak in your water for a long time beforehand or mixing them into your soil. They're intended to treat pools of water where they're always wet.

The yellow sticky traps are decently effective at catching the adults, but like you said, if you miss some they're be more coming soon. Once I started using gnatrol in tangent with the sticky traps that was it not a single fly since. I still ass some to water once a week as a preventative, though that might be unnecessary.

I got the Gnatrol today and watered all my plants. I tried to kill as many adults last week as possible with the alcohol soap (I only could find 70% but it seems to work). Thanks for all the suggestions!

If you put an inch of sand on top of your soil the gnats will disappear. Leave the sand on for a few weeks.
Thanks Mogro, I have tried that and it works well in my grow room. I just don't want to put sand on all my house plants, but that created a reservoir for the gnats. I may try that again in the grow room tho.

A little more details about the grow:
Roots Organics soil, 3 gallon containers, tap water
EB Stone Organics All purpose 5-5-5 during veg, 2 TBSP every week (starting 1-2 weeks after transplant from 3.5" containers to 3 gallon containers)
EB Stone Organics Tomato 4-5-3 during flower, 3 TBSP weekly (Starting a couple days before 12/12)
Liquid seaweed/kelp 0-0-1, when I remember, mixed 1tsp/gal every few waterings (approx 1/2tsp per plant)

Last grow I was alternating every other week with 2 TBSP EB Stone Organics Tomato 4-5-3 one week, then earthworm castings "juice" the next week. The juice may have really help establish the fungus gnat population, so I am trying without it this time. There were some nutrient deficiencies in flower... I blamed the fungus gnats, but pictures below. The yield on my last grow was 210g, about 0.667 g/watt. Any ideas to optimize my feeding schedule and/or add any additional organic nutrients?

Just did the second watering with the BTI and saw only 3 fungus gnats. I managed to kill 2 of them, the 3 one got away. So much better already! Start of week 3 pic below still shows the stretch difference between Zkittlez (Next Generation Nursery) and the rest (came from Archive Pdx and related genetics -GG4, Duct tape, and Double Dosi).

Start of week 4. There are still fungus gnats, but considerably less, especially in the flower tent. The clones and house plants have a lot less but still finding them here and there. It seems the stretch is done, or nearly. Can definitely tell the skittles is very different from the other three. I have upped the liquified seaweed to 2tbsp per gallon once a week.CAFE6A69-A190-4945-8AE9-5479B63C8E98.jpeg

I'm growing some of the archive duct tape too. (I think they brought in the gnats) I dealt with nats yesterday with heavy neem spraying of my whole house. helped to get the normal house plant gnats.

Have your found the duct tape to be a heavier feeder?

I find that duct tape takes a little more water and nutes. My last grow I accidentally cut a big branch that wouldn't reattach on Duct Tape, making it about half the size, but it still produced the same weight of bud as the other four plants. I harvested at about 9 weeks, but personally would let it go about 5 days longer.

Where did you get the clones from ? I tried everything with fungus gnats and the only thing that worked was a combination of yellow sticks, ultra fine steel wool and mosquito bits. Steel wool does same thing sand does but it's much easier to clean up. I soak the mosquito bits in water for a couple days and I sprinkle on the soil.

I got the clones from Kind Heart. Thanks for the idea of the steel wool, seems like it would be easy to remove as needed, as I use powdered nutes. The combo of the Gnatrol BTI powder, recommended by Umbra, and yellow sticky traps has significantly reduced the gnats. I also spray the top of the soil with 70% alcohol and soap, adapted from Cboat's rec, when I first open the tent and it kills any gnats before they can fly, or if they can't fly yet. I didn't think of soaking the bits in water, I think it would work similar to Gnatrol as they are both BTI. I replace the traps periodically and I still see waves of gnats, but each one seems to have significantly less and most of my house plants seem to be free for 2 weeks now.

Start of week 5. The skittles is leaning a little from bud weight, which it’s not that hefty yet, so maybe I should tie it up to prevent further issues. Fungus gnats are in control, but not eradicated. 08423D56-6ABF-4CB7-93A9-F08F97413E78.jpeg
