4 days of drying and my buds are crispy and crumble upon touch

That sums it up nicely

One other possibility is that the big buds that crumble upon touching after 4 days do so because of botrytis.
There's no world where the large buds will dry faster than the small buds.
The crumbling after four days, if accurate, is troublesome.

One reason the bigger buds may have dried faster on the outside than the smaller nugs may have something to do with the bigger buds have no sugar leaves or fan leaves attached to them. The smaller nugs have all of leaves still attached

Sound like you have a fan blowing on it and the exposed buds r drying faster
The only reasonable explanation is that the bigger buds mostly on the upper side, like maybe half way up is that they have no sugar leaves or fan leaves which may have speeded up the drying process on those areas. Cause the parts that have the fan leaves and sugar leaves still attached are still quite moist. I am gonna buy a wood moisture meter tomorrow and check the humidity in the buds and the stems

Could you elaborate on the buds crumbling upon touch?
That should be impossible with the environmental conditions mentioned in a mere four days

I've found nugs in the corner of my drying tent that were 6 months old and they weren't crumbly.

Something's amiss.
No more than the buds have no leafs on them. But stems are really soft and the inner parts of the buds are really soft, they felt pretty moist to the touch

Okay. Sorry, I don't encourage anyone to grow auto flower stuff. It's a different plant from the classic marijuana. That's why there is a separate section here for auto flower stuff. I can only speak on/give advice about photo period marijuana. I'm going to bow out. Good luck.
An auto flower is a cannabis plant just like a photoperiod. They are identical other than the fact that one doesn't need a long dark cycle to initiate flowering. They grow, flower and ripen the same way any other plant would. There is no difference.

Stem snapping is overrated. If your stems snap clean its over dried 9 out of 10 times.. The interweb has some not so good advise sometimes. Also I've harvested many a top shelf plants with about a 7 day dry. Some of these myths just won't die.
My dry time varies from about 7 days to 10 days to 2 weeks. Depends on how much wet trim I do, the size of the branches cut, and ambient conditions. Most important part is not speed drying in 3 days and not over drying before cure.

Also agree branches should splinter not snap. If buds are snapping off it's time to get them sealed up

Sounds like you've harvested weeks early and you are drying very under formed bud that had no density. That could be the issue. Got a pic of the bud or plant?

Nope, no fan used in the drying process. The only fan I have running in the tent is the extractor fan that may have resulted in the dryness in the buds!
Most likely this. The extractor fan will cause air movement over the buds. Just a question of how much.

Did/can you lower the speed of the extraction?

I use 12v computer fans/electrical cooling fans in my dry tent only.
One to simply move the air around the tent that's only a few cfm. Maybe 5-10cfm. And one small fan stuck into the vent on the top blowing out set on a inkbird humidity controller so it only turns on if the rh goes above 62% around 20cfm. That's all that's needed.

Whats your average drying time?
