I appreciate it, bro. Thank you. That was kind of my point earlier. The genetics under those lights are pure Sativa.

(Kerala India x Purple Highland Colombian x Thai x Mexican). The female is that, plus Malawi landrace. With that in mind, they sure as fuck aren’t spindly. It isn’t crossed with any indica, so of course it doesn’t look like a squat little hybrid.
I have red rooster going now, 12 week flower. When I saw what you had going, I knew your advice would jive. Do you order from Swami also?

Why doesnt anyone ever recommend running cobs at their higher ratings? Efficiency doesnt suffer too much, initial expense is driven way down. Aside from having to wire and power fans, the build isnt any more difficult.
I do all the time... I drive my Samsungs at max suggested voltage. They are strips though...

I have seen COBs desolder themselves when their active cooling took a shit.

You don't even know what that means, you think LEDs all run at a set voltage or some shit. Stop pretending you know what you're talking about because you are clueless. Your LEDs are premade and you don't know anything about "running them hot" .
I understand what I’m saying, you petty fool. 2 of my Tastys rant at 2150mA (Cree CXB3590 CD Bin, 3500k, 80 CRI; I think 3600mA was max the chip could handle, recommended, and it was like 35-36v), my other was 1670mA (Vero29C Gen 7, 3500k/90 CRI), and my Timber is 1400mA (same). I would have to calculate the voltage of each or look the emitters up. All with selectable current. You are literally projecting onto me because your ego sensibilities have been offended. Stop bogging this guy’s thread down like the whiny bitch you have been for two days now.

I don't see the point to the massive efficiency shootout if you limit yourself to a hard budget of $400.
I'd just buy whatever put down the most photons for my money. At the end of the day most small growers can only afford to light a small area, so gram/square meter becomes a more important metric than uM/W
Agreed. This topic would me more interesting if budget wasn't an issue. Also would be better without the bickering although some constructive information comes out of it from all involved, it's hard picking it out from the 'I'm right, you're wrong, admit it' crap.

If budget wasn't an issue, I would just have bought whatever. Since I'm limited on funds, that's what I think makes it so interesting. When you take highly skilled folks, they know about photons and par and all of that shit. The average guy has X amount of bucks and wants to grow some weed. I'm kind of that guy, except by this point I have a couple grand investment.

The $400 limit is because I'm getting engaged; I can't spend more on lights till november but I have plants that still have another 4-6 weeks and I want to make sure they finish right.

Oh shit
Guys just stop answering at Yodaweed

I haven’t yet, but I really like his work.
I have his Blue orca haze and red rooster going. You'd love the red rooster. https://www.facebook.com/groups/Swamiseed/

Thanks everyone for your help - I wound up buying 2 lights on amazon since it was quickest and I'm essentially a dipshit. This is what I bought, thank you all for your help.

2$ a watt for a single cree cob
That's the perks of being smart enough to put your shit on amazon I guess. There's a lot of us who don't want to buy from a wix website, or deal with customs lol oh and 9.99 to get it here in 24 hours... Shit if you could get me something better here as quickly, I would just buy it from you on the spot. I don't want to deal with the culture of LED lighting though (the sites you buy lights from don't appeal to the average consumer), that shit isn't for me.

What's that got to do with anything.

H influx strips are 25$ each. X8
Hlg-240h-48a are 50$ x2
Local metal shop for some u channel and angle. Maybe $50

Theres your light with change.

That would have been better and cheaper.

But the point is: it is up to you what to do with your money.

Hps setups are still available and overall better than the "2k equivalent led"
That's a great option, but I don't want to wait 2 weeks. Also the shipping would probably be a lot more; but I will revisit this in November.

HPS is a great option too, I could replace all my lighting with just $300 more investment. That's also an option for november.

Eventually someone with half a brain will just package this shit together and put it on amazon where it belongs...
