400w hps hood heat problem

I have a 400w hps hood that has no vents in them. Its like the aircooled hood but there no holes inside to allow venting. Is it possible for me to cut out holes in the metal to make them into a aircooled vent?

have you got a link to the hood youve got? if not then you could cut your own holes and modify it, just remember you will need 2 holes so the air can be replaced that your sucking out of hood!

thanks for the advice, but what do you mean links? I've got two hooks on them to hang off chains. Its an inbuilt ballast. The metal gets really hot and creates more heat in the cabinet. Will having constant air blowing at the hps blow it up? I was thinking of cutting either a hole or two in the metal and having two intakes for it and a third hole to exhaust the hot air from the 400w hps.. I got three exhaust fans in the cabinet. One of the to of the cab, and one at the back. I need a inline fan, well i do have a 150mm exhaust/inline fan but it makes too much noise and it flys around crazy if not mounted on something. I was thinking about making a box for it as i seen on the thread 'quite shhhh neighbors can here.'

Imagine a HPS Hood, not air-cooled or cooltubed.
At one end there is a 8cm diameter hole that i made. I want to make the second hole but the problem where i want to do it at is where the Hps mogul socket is. I was thinking about making the hood like and aircooled. 1 Vent hole on each side.

Apparently i need a second hole to vent in and out. I have one hole to either vent in or out.
Is it safe to screw those computer fans onto those hood to vent air out? Or will the fan material burn?
If it doesn't seem safe to place computer fan on those hood, then Ill probably make a AC from those cooler box and have either two fans pumping air inside, while the exhaust vent will be link to the HPS?

Heres a draft paint of what I want.View attachment 1781741

Just seeing if anyone knows that you can put a heatsink onto the Hood? There some heat sinks that have fans ontop of them. It seem that it be more safer having the heatsink connected to the hood rather than the fan.
