400w in a closet?

hey people ive been using a 400w hps in my grow room this is my first grow ever i recently bought a 1000w hps and ballast my room is 10x8 ceiling is sloped so the highest point in center of room is 12' and it tapers down to 8' on both sides anyways my question is im planing on using the closet in the room as a veg and clone area the closet is 2 feet deep and 5 feet wide would the 400w hps that ive been using in the main room be too much for this size of a closet i can cut holes wherever i want so no restrictions for venting i originally planned on using led's inside the closet but just cant afford them right now so what you guys think i dont see any point in just kicking the 400 to the side when i can possibly utilize it for this closet for now thanks in advanced for any comments and insight

That should work fine, just with proper ventillation of course. I run 2 400w in a closet about that size...

Yep me too, I use 2 in a 2x4 closet great results...had to get a grow tent to flower em, they grew so big

the 10x8 rooms gonna be my flower area im allowed 12 plants so i think that should be plenty of room the 1k lights just hanging from the ceiling for now and veging all the plants but there ready for flower waiting on this light rail to get here before i flower bought this track that moves the light from on side of the room to the other side takes almost 30 min for the light to travel 6'

oh also my plants were all started at differnt times so like 6 are ready to flower 4 im playing with trying to get lst mastered and 2 are brand new so been postponing flowering untill i have a veg area glad to hear my closet should work out well

no yield is coming from that space, he had stated it was his clone/veg area, as the room/bedroom occupying the closet like the occupiers do boston is his flowering room =)

If I was in your postition, would have 15-20 plants crammed in that flowering room and had built shelves around the closet and hung my 400'er vertically in the closet managing space and supplying even lighting.

thanks hipotency never thought of doing it that way thats an awesome idea i havnt begun any work on the closet yet and that looks like a pretty sweet setup my masterplan is to have 3 600 hps and the 1000 with an mh bulb in the flower room my 1000w ballast is dimmable and supports hps or mh its currently running an hps

something i constantly think and worry about is smell control and talkative people introduced to my home by unexpected circumstances.. I always overcompensate in this effort. Those people who got pinched had complaints from up to 3 miles from their home of a strong weed smell emanating in the winds, his garage 2nd floor was his "space". also he was in Vegas when the police came to investigate the complaints and im sure they were standing outside his garage saying to each other.. cop 1: "damn it sure smells like a skunk factory in there" sarge: *llifts eyebrows* rookie: say sarge, you think this is enough for a warrant?, and he had no idea anybody had been to his house or knew anything.. pshhh damn fool. . there's a ton of threads that will tell you how to make some good carbon filters for cheap. and with a little fabrication, whatever your exhaust set up is... they'll work great

I flower 10 plants at a time... harvesting 5 plants once a month. Yielding about 8 oz. a month and increasing as time/experience goes on...

Hell yeah! I use to spend $300 an oz about each month. Now I can smoke as much as I want and make a couple hundred on the side each month. It's definately nice, and my friends love the fact that I'm growing rather than our previous unreliable here and there hook up.

Lol thanks, that pic is a built in island in my kitchen, but my whole kitchen has that countertop. I like it too lol.

I know don't you love that? I remember when I first started growing I was like god damn, I spend all this money on buds but I can grow my own, smoke for free, and usually the bud I grew was better than anything you could find on the streets. After that you never want to buy it again. Your friends know? I am guessing your in a legal state.

i run a 400w hps in a closet with almost identical dimensions without problems.

however, the closet is in a spare room that i can keep dark. this allows me to leave the closet door open a bit to vent the light. my only enrivronmental controls are a fan on a stick (upright fans? whatever it's called) blowing on the plants and a table fan blowing on the light. as long as you have a way to control the heat i find a 400w to be optimal for a closet that size. anything bigger and the heat would take over, any smaller and yield goes down.

I also run a 400W in a small space. The one advantage to that is the concentration of light is intense. I grow about 2 plants, sometimes 4, but when I grow just 2 the light is so intense the plants love it. The buds get so fat. Even the buds on the lower branches get pretty fat. I love it. But keeping the temp around 79 is a constant battle.

Here is a video of my White Widow grow from last year. I got 2 going in that space. Some might ask why didn't I top or LST or FIM. Well this was a experiment. I wanted to see how it would grow without topping it and how much I would yield. I was very surprised by the results. It grew so tall that I couldn't put my light up any higher. They got to about 4 feet tall. I have video's of them in the earlier flowering stage too.

well the plan i have is to use the closet for vegging 12 plants with the 400w in the closet i just got my medical card today my dad already had his so we were limited to 12 plants but now that i have my card our limit is 24 so would 12 in the closet work out ok or is it too much for that small of a space im very new to this am on my first grow right now of my dads 12 plants there doing pretty well from what a professional grower has told me and they will be put into flower hopfully this weekend i plan to keep 12 flowering and 12 veging at all times i got a buddy that gives me free clones so i dont have much need of a cloning area
