400W MH cnversion bulb noob question

Is the whole bulb supposed to "glow" or just like 1/2 of it? I have one and the entire bulb isnt glowing.. Just the top 1/2 sorta.. Is this normal?

I dont know what kind of 400w MH bulb you have but my 400w MH conversion is bright as f&^k and i couldnt tell if only half was glowing or not....its that bright :hump:

Now the HPS is a little subdued compared to the MH but the MH should be nice and bright :)
 
its bright I guess, but the entire bulb doesnt apear to light up..Just the top half.. Its hard to explain. So you think the bulb is bad? Its brand new.

see this way its kind of split into 2 sections? Im thinking its normal but wtf do I know. Anyone else used this bulb?
 
Yah man only half of is really lit up! It looks like a 2 inch pouch which has the metal filament inside it. The metal halide light should be so bright that it would bsically burn your eyes if you stared directly at it. And after you looked at it when you walk to the next room you will be blind for a little bit.

OK thanks.. I was pretty sure that was the case but just wanted to make sure.. It just doesnt seem "super super bright" you know? thanks for the reply!

be carefull if the bulb got knocked around during shipping it could have broke the seal of bulb and let gasses out...bulb will be dim and will not last long never used that peticular conversion bulb...sometimes the contact inside needs to open and close a few times before it really gets cooking give it a few days
 
I swear I was expecting it to be brighter.... Meh..Maybe its just me. I mean, yea itll damn near blind you if you look at the bulb, but, iunno... Maybe I was just expecting too much.
