400w or 600w hps

So I'm aprroaching my first grow with much excitement, and I'm wondering what light I will able to get away with in the setup I'm going for. I'm only going to grow 1 plant (maybe royal queen sour diesel) as I have an nft tray and can only fit 1. I'm also gonna have a go at scrog :)

The setup will be this:
100x100x200cm tent
NFT hydro
5" coolshade
4" can fan - maybe just for the coolshade
5" Rhino hobby carbon filter
5" can fan RK125L outtake
A couple of 5" circ fans
Passive intake
600w bulb with variable ballast

A lot of this equipment came from a friend's old cupboard grow, and I remember him having massive problems with heat and running out of vertical space. Obviously I'd love to max out the amount of light my plant will get, however if heat and humidity are too high I've heard that the quality and quantity will suffer...

Im basically after a more experienced opinion on what I can get away with, and whether it would be more sensible to run 400w this time :) might I be better off using the smaller fan for outtake and the bigger one to cool the shade down?..

Thanks!

Welcome! How are you today? I always like to tell new growers to air on the side of caution for the first 2 grows, after that go fucking crazy, you just make all kinds of stupid little mistakes and stuff and then get discouraged. I dont want to see that happen, growing is such a rewarding and peaceful part of life. I would recommend you go with the 400, learn your enviroment and how it works with the 400, how the plants respond, get used to feeling how heavy the pot is for watering, kill some clones, you know play with it all and get comfortable. Then go for it, but you better keep us up to date. You have a really good handle on what your doing. MD

3 x 3 x 7 foot area is ideal for 600 hps, New digital tech isnt as fancy and better than old school magnetic tech honestly, if i were you id go with a 600 hps kooltube, have ducting pulling air and a tent to keep things hidden......

tent 004.JPG tent 002.JPG tent 001.JPG what your seeing above is a 3 x 3 x7 tent with a 600 hps kooltube hooked toan inline fan and 4 inch ducting, FYI most tubes are 6in diameter and you'll need an adapter like ive shown in pic 1 that flanges down from 6in to 4in. Grow yourself some sticky flowers man! Above all else DONT BE GREEDY!

OK man, thanks for your reply! :)
Loving the look of the setup! Do you remember the min/max temperature inside the enclosure? :) did you have to run the coolshade to/from the window to keep it controllable?

Also is the fan inline with the coolshade also acting as the outtake for the ventilation or do you have a seperate inline for venting? :)

I have all appropriate flanges but thanks for pointing it out ;)

that fan is pulling air out ofthe tent and yes i was venting it outside, One fan blowing (oscilating) inside the tent and a decent cfm fan (inline) like the one in the picture are the best imho. I dont worry about temps unless my plants show signs of stress, remember guys this is a weed man, not known for being super hard to grow despite what all the so-called experts say! lol.
