[420] Hazes Journal - SLH HomeBox Grow 2011

Hey there Hazey, looking good mate, i been looking at the primair units, seems like they do the job!

Just a question, what litre's per hour drippers you using?

I don't use drippers tricka it runs directly outta spaghetti tubes on feeder rings, it only pumps every 4 hours for 1 min.

nice setup man! did you buy it from hyalite?
also what did that fan control put you back looks real nice

Thanks for the comments, no, the system didn't come from hyalite, the pots, tubing and plumbing fixtures came from bunnings, I assembled myself, hyalite don't sell homebox either only eZi range, I don't trust hyalite, the only online store I trust is DHS. The controller was fairly cheap as I bought 4, so I got each one for $110. If you want anymore info let me know

Saturday 30th April.

Well, its been 1 week in the tent, nutes added Wednesday for there 1st week of feed schedule, this SLH is a strong, basically within 7 days they have aclimatised to the enviroment, developed there root structure within medium and started to grow strong, the stalks are healthy and thick for there size and at this stage it seems i cracked it for a good pheno. PPM is at 880, Cyco recommend 1000 PPM for first week of Veg cycle, but being such young seedlings i didnt want to push it and its paid off, they are thriving, the PH is 5.8 sitting pretty. i also added some fine mist heads to the spaghetti tubes to make it spread a little more when pump is on. heres the pics;

looking great mate, exactly how mant days since popping the surface?

Is that a Truncheon stick, was gonna get one, Heard they are the best ($199) but i ended up get a EUTECH for $65 -- Fuck yeahz! from a yanky Hydro store, like $80 bucks off RRP, i had to buy a goodie just to make sure my cheapy was doing its job properly. Are you using Cyco's full kit? i cant wait till my Dutch Master line runs out and start and i can try it.

Edit: oh yeah they popped out on the 8/4, was lazy when i typed it up ;)

Yeah I'm using the whole line, I'll post pics of nutes for you tomorrow and yes it's a truncheon, I got it on special for $120.00, haven't looked back, if you care for the probe they last forever and are very accurate.

im all good Hazey, i have got the full kit sitting there waiting, got one the other week, tho post pics if you wish

Update 18th May.
Things are going well, I have had fluctuating PH issues the last week which i have managed to fix and stabilize, i got 2 diff pheno's from Greenhouse though, one is short stocky and shaped like a xmas tree, the other is robust and a awesome pheno for scrogging, its node spacing and branching is outta control. here is a quick peek;

Update 19th May.
HOLY CRAP !!! Cyco nutrient range is awesome with coco !! the plants are seriously exploding with growth.. check the difference from yesterday to today, WOW......... This is the 3rd week of Veg, i will be vegging for another 2 weeks, the adjustments and changes i made have totally fixed the PH fluctuation problems and all was a major learning experience, I never knew oxygen displaced hydrogen causing a high acidic content making your PH jump huge, so by removing the 1 inch airstone from my 45 ltr res stopped that issue, the other cause could have possibly been the EC/PPM being to low, the plant would dump acidic fluid to absorb what it needed again making the PH jump, however this wasnt the case, i slightly increased the dosage and the plants are flourishing, not suffering any nute burn etc, it was the airstone/aeration that was causing it. I havent left the res stagnant, thats a big NO NO, so i slammed a Aqua One 101 400 lph pump in it to mix the res fluid and create movement. Heres a quick few shots from today ;

i would top them. in my opinion scrog is more effective when you have a lot of plants. i would top it in such a way that you get several main colas.

Update 22nd May.
Well, the plants were topped yesterday, res change/clean, system flush, and nute change for wk 4 veg. After doing some topping the net was put in and the training has begun. 2 wks and this should be nicely spaced and filled and ready for the switch to begin the flowering cycle.

Update 25th May.
Since being topped the rapid growth slowed for 1 day then off they went again, coming along well, by the end of next week, the netting will be filled and spaced well enough for full light penetration to each cola.

yeah sweet mate thats exactly what i wanna try on my next run was gonna use the same sort of netting as u have as it's easy to set it up in the room rather than build a screen.

will be watching to see how this go's man keep up the good work.

Looking great Hazey. i guess the bagseed just likes to grow like a stumped out pine tree shape... any chance you can get some RH and temp figure's from the canopy height as therse no point measuring the ground as ya plants aren't growing down there......thats unless your keeping regular checks on your intake side of things, but then again you got a thermostat connected so i dunno, have you taken and documented what temp your bulbs put out in relation to your light footprint, say 8" 12" 16" 18" 20" at canopy height

just wondering? :D

Yeah, I keep a full diary of daily checks, I also don't like to over complicate it to much, but for your info, due to temp/fan controller tent is constant 26 degrees, in dark period slight variance between 18-16 degrees, RH is fairly stable sitting between 50-62%, as for light/lumens footprint, it's at 12".
I have changed the netting, made a PVC frame to fit exact size of tent and spaced it perfect, these SLH are nute demons my week 5 PPM is 1420, EC 2.6, PH is 5.5 and they drinking approx 1.5 liters a day, thirsty bitches, they have both exploded and the netting is almost full, just have to train towards front to fill to 100%, daily growth is roughly 1.9-2.0" per day. I will start to trim the beneath slowly now as 90% of the branches are canopy height and woven.
