4k is making my plants look like crap

First thing I bought after my LEDs was a big wooden ruler for a few bucks to make sure I wasn't setting lower than 18 inches. Still use it.
My clone tent is 36" high, the plant was on the floor the light was cable tied to the roof bars, I'm estimating a space of 26/28" between the light and plant at 50% power. _20201008_143732.JPG_20201005_130432.JPG
It's a 1ltr air pot.

Yes, see the first sentence there? Where I say I have tried?
You mounted the light at the highest available mounting point and reduced power to 50%, and the issue still occurs?

If the answer is yes then I'd be getting my money back from the vendor. Buy another light and for the love of god move the fuck on sir :)

the way you phrased that sentence made me think raising the lights worked but you want it to work with the lights closer.

if it's not height, it's gotta be nutes IMO.

Well I have a few more things to test at least. I’ll throw them back in after my next clone run in a few weeks.

If you didn't change fertilizer or any other variable besides the light used then the light is your problem.

I'm interested in hearing the response from the manufacturer regarding your photos of the foliage heavily damaged by their light.

This is the data from them hung at full power at 18 inches. So much lower than this at half power obviously. Yes the tent is 3x3. Generally speaking I hang my lights high the first few days and gradually lower them to avoid light stress and I did that with these as well. I can put them within a a foot of HO T5s and they don't stress. They are well established plants too, at least 6 months old on most and about a year on one. Next time I have to throw something into the tent I will hang them at 24 inches and turned down to half power to rule that out. My gut is telling me that's not it though, still will rule it out.
you should really give it a try with lower intensity.
it is of course hard to guess which ppfd you have in real, i would guess the manufactorer could give you a ballpark number beeing good for veg.
basically you should encounter good healthy growth at 250ppfd in veg, if they can take a 400, good, give it to them, but i never had vegging plants taking more so far.
i did used (older Cree CXB) 3500K Cobs in a 3x3 with a 240W driver btw, the classic growmau recommendation at that time.

there are always tons of factors in to the game, temp, salt stress, genetics, etc.
but if you say they do well under T5, i would guess its simply the intensity mostly.
ledtonic published some tests, as you can see these 2 14W T5 put out just a 100 ppfd directly underneath them at 1".
you may get a idea how little ppfd you provide to your plants by using these cfl.

Who ever heard a 4500k Timber 4VS?
This entire thread just seems fishy like we're not getting the full picture. OP needs to show a picture of your light including the badging that identifies the model or I'm done here. We can't help if you're withholding information or being untruthful. Word to your mother homie :)

Mistake, but the thread clearly says 4K. I bought one of their 4vs in 4K for mother’s and some early veg.
You can post all of these messages, but you can't take a photo of your light? Total junk. If you were a piece of fruit you would not be worth the squeeze. Best of luck to you sir.
