Bato buckets was what hempy copied. Perlite with drippers is great with bato or regular container, just hard to locate quality perlite in some places. Block of coir will be big bag of perlite sized after hydration.

Couple of questions:

Why is there so many 3 fingered leaf ? Usually that is a sign of things. Plus it seems it as purple stalks / stems.

I thought southflorida og was an indica dom .

What light cycle are those on ?
Seems overly stretched.
Why not train if these are that tall ?

Also. 3:1 perlite to vermiculite would cut down watering frequency

That’s how the plant always grows. Even in 15 gallons. South Florida OG rarely ever puts out 5 fingered leaves. Doesn’t really matter what system.

Judging by the plant, does something look amiss? This clone has always thrown 3 fingered leaves. 3 gal, 5 gal, 15 gal.

this was a trial run and pure perlite was chosen to run it. Agreed the water holding capability with vermiculite would hold water better. Again this was a trial run. Only showcasing what was found with pure perlite, in this room with this strain.

If the 3 fingered leaves this strain puts off run after run generates some concern, with how she’s been running for years, your input and comment is always appreciated. Another perspective can’t do anything but add to collective data.

The stems/stalks actually are a maroon color. Mostly stripes down the stalks. Pertaining to genetics, it’s always had maroon stripes running down the stalks. The picture lighting in the picture you’re referring to is admittedly not great. The color runs a maroon which is a little easier to see in the next picture of the entire plant.

ok bud, thank you

looked to see what grows you posted for some nute pointers. Could you maybe point me in the direction of your grow thread to see what’s wrong here? It would be a huge help to see how you do your rooms, nutes, temp, strains, system, PPM, Ph. Any grow log you’ve done that could point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated

Are these plants getting enough light?
I haven't seen anyone ask. Last pic I see kinda looks outdoors, but it's pretty shaded. Maybe it's the pic?

Edit: I've previously given my current run insufficient light, and she wouldn't throw anything but 3 fingers at first.

The last pics were taken with that wavy pattern under hps, but they may actually need a little more light.

4KW (single ended) in the room. Running 78 degrees. 56% RH.
The room is a little big to only be running 4KW single ended. 22x14. Taking the pictures, putting some glasses over the camera probably would’ve made the pictures come out more clear.

light source is single ended 1kw’s HPS alternating MH. Only 4kw.

What is your water source and nutrients? And is that temperature when lights on? How about lights off? I use a data logger to help see what's going on at all hours. They're cheap

Looks like fun ....interested to see what this will do in a 100%pearlite medium ..FYI pay attention to your temps and humidity it's been my experience that purple stripes in the stalks are normally a magnesium issue and not so much genetics.
The interesting part being that it's not necessarily a deficiency/toxicity issue ...sometimes cold/excessive hot temperatures can cause the plant to not correctly absorb magnesium and trying to feed it more wouldn't help purely because of the climate .......Anyway good vibes ...looking forward to seeing what happens

Way back in the 80's I made a DIY drain to waste (that's pretty much all there was hydro back then) using 1/2 & 1/2 vermiculite and perlite. Used two half hour cycles based upon 'sunrise' and two hours before 'sunset' for my flower room. Used same timer for both flower and veg rooms. Of course, I was using bag seed back then which grew sometimes two-four inches a day in veg.

I'm using the same mix now with great results.

My best grow was 100% perlite hand watered twice a day, with dyna-gro bloom.
100% rice hulls has worked very well too.
