just started 10 of these under a 1000w air cool hood have the mh bulb in and started 12/12 last night.
i was thinking about leaving the mh in for a few weeks before i go to the hps any thoughts on that??
each one has an air stone and the timer is set for 30min on 15 off because the water was getting warm??
i'm using advanced nutrients sensi one grow at 800-1000 ppm and 6.2-6.5 ph?
i have been checking the waters ph and ppm every time i need to add some water to it so i can add what i think is needed to keep it in my target area, but how often do i have to drain the bucket and refill it? do i empty them all the way or what?
thanks for any help i've done soil then hempy buckets and now this, i'm thinking this will be my way for awhile.and i'd like to be good at it..

i would be running the airstones 24/7 and the water temps should be 70 degrees or lower. the ph should be closer to 5.8. there are some good threads on here to give you plenty of anwsers

looks like nute burn? i added overdrive yesterday i think thats what did this..but the overall ppm is only 1000 or so and the ph is 5.6 the shine on the leaves is from organocide from home depot it has fish oil in it but i use it all the time its not that..

Too much nitrogen. Back off the nutes before you fry your plants... and don't fuck with the ph so much... as your plant pulls nutes out of the water it's going to make the ph and ppm fluctuate.. it absorbs different nutrients at different ph's. Try and just ph your top up water and let the bucket do what it does for a res change. I guarentee you won't worry so much about your ph if you let it go just once as an experiment.. try it on one bucket and you'll see the deep green at the top will mellow out, and the lower leaves won't burn off like they are.

If i were you i would leave the air on all the time. The more oxygen the roots get the better of the root system, and your plants will be. Your the first person i have heard of to switch the air off, Im not dogging it or nothing, if it works it works.

sorry forget to tell you the air is on 24/7 now it has been for almost a month.and i have the super hps in now for the last month(first month was mh)..if i leave the ph for 3 days it goes to 4.9 or so thats way to low right? i'm shooting for 5.5 to 6.2 ? any higher it gets 2ml ph down and lower gets 2ml ph up and i spot check them every day i pick 2 and test if there out i test them all? the nute burn just got that bad last night so tonight i may add plain water after i test.the dark green is from the organocide i spray them every week or so i keeps mites off and is a great foliar feed i noticed but no more will be used for the last month i like to get the smell and taste of it gone before harvest.. . again thanks for the help

this is my fourth grow but i did it a different way each time (1st was seeds in mg soil, cheap nutes ,in 5 gal bucket, with cheap lights. harvest was not good looked like crap did not get high...next i got 2 1000w switchable air cooled hood's promix bx mixed with perlite in 3 and 4 gal buckets, advanced nutrients and bought some clones, harvest was great i was happy but already started set 3 in 3 gal hempy buckets, nothing but perlite same nutes same lights and they were doing amazing right till the end they got to dry one night and everything turned brown harvest did not look good but was really not bad if they did not dry out this would have been the best by far.set 4 now with these net lid 5 gal buckets i pulled a ton of lower branches off for clones and i do not like the tiny fluff they bring to harvest, this is still a lot of work and is tricky to get everything right the ph and ppm need to be looked at a lot and the water needs to be changed out every 10-12 days goes threw a ton of nutes but may be worth it i'll find out in a month or so..

i kinda got the hang of this now .i test every other day with my digital ph and ppm meters i keep them between 5.0 and 6.0 and the ppm 1000-1200 the leaves are not the best looking still from a few weeks ago but the bud looks great and when i squeezed one it was real hard, i normally get fluffy stuff so this may be the best grow yet(fingers crossed)
