55° f????

Will my plants growwhen the ambient temperature is a constant 55°F? I live in a really old house and wstruggle to get the temps above that obviously, it will warm up some as the warmer weather gets here but i would like to know if i could get started now. Thanks

Think you'll find you need at least 70 to get them to grow.

55 won't kill them, it will just make it grow slower. if you get it that temp during flowering your buds will turn purple.

Is this a good or a bad thing?

I think I've got a make shift solution I have a 150w SON in a flood which generates a fair bit of heat if I mount that quite high in my closet, and aim it down on the plant. I have a 36w CFL I can use quite close to the plant for the light. Will this work? ~Or will 2 light sources coming from different directions screw the plants growth? I don't know if it makes any difference but the SON is in a professional lighting flood for car parks and the CFL is in the reflector off a streetlight so the distribution should be quite good

i grew my plant at low temps and it is doing fine. just taking longer than it should. may differ depending on the strain.

I'm pretty limited for space so another CFL with relfelctor and gear would just sit on top of the one already in there

55 it will grow slow, you just need to get it up over 60 if you can, the floodlight will do the trick, that will add at least the extra temps you need. i had my seedlings growing under led in the irish winter, most days it would only be 63f and they grew fine, 2 are very big. get the 150w son in your closet and happy growing.
