55 watt cfl question?

Hey. Just wondering if anyone thought one 55 watt cfl over one plant would be strong enough to get it going and grow it enough before putting it under my 1000w hps for the veg and flower process. I recently revived a heat stressed seedling with a 55 and it seems like it could be a better route before throwing them to the wolves under the 1k. And I'm not talking about growing a full plant under one lamp. Just enough to get it out of seedling stage and into veg. Any input would be awesome! By the way. I'm in a 4 site 5 gallon dwc system. Hydroton media. Gh nutes and various strains. Thanks for any input or advice!

Im sure one 55W would be enough for the fist 2-3 weeks, keep it with in 2-4 inch`s and get one in 6500K

Thanks a lot for the input! I thought it might be worth a shot just to be gentle to them in the beginning. I don't know what spectrum the one I currently have is but I'll make sure the rest are 6500. I think starting out this next round of seed under a small flouro until sprouted and then moved to cfl and then finally to hps is the right method for me. Especially since I don't have an exhaust for a couple more days. Again. Thanks for the input!

i'm absolutely positive it will work, i keep all my mothers, i have 10 right now in 16oz solo cups, inside my stealth motherboz under a 2ft 4bulb T5 HO fixture that i seldom run with more that 2 bulbs so 48watts total and i get WAY more growth than i can use.

i also have a clone/seedling box that i built to run 4x 55watt PLLs and i often run that with only one bulb, so just 55watts total.

...so yeah, you can do that for sure.

peace, bozo

btw, i personally prefer the 4100Kelvins, mj evolved to need more than just blue light.

thanks for the info! I'll get some 6500ks this week and use them on the next grow. I'll try and post back with pictures when I get it all set up!

4100K hmmm .. I did use 5000K once and did very well, just think 2700K might make em stretch to much in the beginning ? but no matter what its always a good idea to mix em up a bit, plants use all color all grow, just more blue in veg and more red/yellow in flowering, I run a 6 tube T5HO for seedlings/Veg and I run 2x2700K and 4x6500K tho fist week I normally only run 2x6500K

yeah man, the truth is cannabis evolved to use both reds and blues so it needs both throughout it's life, just in different ratios for the different stages, more blue for veg and more red for flower, and that's because in the spring there is more blue light in the sky and in the fall there is more red, ...it has to do with the angle that sunlight hits our planet and how that light is then refracted.

anyway, 4100Kelvin is right in the middle, as it were, and it is almost identical to what a CMH delivers, Kelvin temperature wise.

...a good rule of thumb is a 3 to 1 ratio, blue to red in veg and red to blue in flower.
