I run rdwc
But dwc I've read once a week
But once the plant gets big enough, how often does the water even last that long?
Lol
I guess thats why some people say they never change it

I agree with this, especially when using a 5 gal bucket.
Most of the root balls my plants develop take up almost 1/2 of the volume of the bucket.
It was almost like a rez dump every day having to replenish a gallon or two to top it off.

Hey there just giving an update. I actually had to change out the rez for the first time since I stuck the clone there. Was a pain in the ass because of the scrog net but I got the air stone hose and weaved it through the hole (the air stone was totally encapsulated by roots so was unable to separate it haha), then transferred the whole plant and roots into an identical bucket. Everything was happy and great when I left home and 3 days later all was burned. I hadn't been checking my EC and it crept up to off the scale haha. I guess I should check my EC every few days. The normal tap water is 6.8-7 so I use Canna Hard A+B to bring down the pH to 6.1, it doesn't go lower. Another thing is the tap water has around .65 EC. Difficult only for hydro here. EC now sitting at 1.2 and will bump it up to 1.8 next week.

If I hadn't have had that spare bucket Iwould have been in trouble haha. :) Happy all is ok now.

How often do you do a rez change?
Weekly? 2x/wk?

Asking for a friend...
:)

every 5-7 days, you can leave longer if wanted but i always see the plant have a explosive growth reaction 1 day after fresh res change so i prefer to stick to 5 to 7 days

for over a year now i completely stopped doing rez changes.. i top my buckets every few days and that's it.. and check PH obviously :) I have had zero issues and plants/roots are happy as can be:)

P.S. i started not changing rez water when i started running AG... before that i had issues but with it.. no problems at all since :)

You're hurting yourself because your water is running out of distilled oxygen. Life grows the most around tumbling rivers, that's where frogs and fish spawn, because the tumbling water dissolves more oxygen and more oxygen is better for life. Need to change your water or use an O2grow.

Thats what an air stone is for
Nobody does dwc without one unless you go kratky... but that usually doesn't go great

Hurting myself? I have 2 airstones running in each bucket, it looks like posiden is pissed off on there... they is plenty of o2... i have pulled almost 400grams dry off of a single 250w QB without ever changing water... if i'm hurting myself then let the pain continue :)

Thanks for offering help though.. (this wasn't meant sarcastically)

P.S. this is what Southern AG and not changing water got me...

(just 1 branch, i LST like crazy and most of the plant was like this.. not massive but not bad for under a 250w in a small tent..

Not amazing roots.. but no complaints.. the tan color is due to my nutes being tan.. other than that.. no issues with any rot or anything through the whole grow.

air stones won't add oxygen because the bubbles are too large and travel to fast, popping at the surface releasing it into the air

pothead typo of course
Utter bullshit! You mean we haven't used airstones to add DO for decades successfully? Your a fool without own experience or understanding about the subject matter, that's why you're being fooled by marketing.

Don't give advice or guidelines if you dont have experience or any idea of what you're actually talking about.

Holy shit man listen to you. Go google "do airstones add oxygen to water." You will find a million websites telling you they don't including aquarium websites. It will prevent anaerobic bacteria from growing but it will not add oxygen to your water. At best it adds AIR to your water which isn't even pure oxygen, if you've ever used a CO2 controller it will tell you earth's air averages about 400ppm CO2. You can deny science all you want but you're also probably one of those old fools who thinks leaving the lights off 48 hours before harvest is somehow going to change thousands of years of evolution in the plant's biological process just because some old hippy said so.

You ever grow with an Under Current? I know the answer is no. If you have you'd know they grow amazingly fast and the reason they do is because the tumbling of the water in the return bucket, the same way a river crashes going down stream, is what dissolves oxygen into the water at all times.

Your hydroponics have never been better than the 6 mg/L oxygen it had coming out of the tap. You have no clue what it's like growing with high dissolved oxygen levels because you've never tried any other method than just having an air stone. And you try to make comments when you have ZERO experience in testing for yourself.

Why do you think you have to change the water out of your hydro bucket every 2 weeks fool? Because your water ran out of oxygen and the plant needs the oxygen to feed.
