And laxitives what kind of camera are you using I seen you had a fisheye lens on it.

I've read the entire thread and so far so good for you my friend I also think your right about the lighting being most effective in a vertical position, but for me both stand true, due to the lsting on my plant I'll just post three pic's at different stages and right now as we speak she is a total of 85 days old 30 days in veg I'll show that picture of her 2nd and 3rd I'll show her at 49th day into flowering and through in a frosty for four. I think the biggest thing I've learned about growing MJ is being able to have patience, thats #1I will definitely Rep++ you for your patience with us.

@zoso - sick looking plant! I plan to lst or scrog once my plants get bigger and every day i'm leaning towards lst more and more, thanks for the input.

hm i always thought u get the most lumen's (light effectiveness) from any bulb from its most surface area, as in the side im sure this applies for cfls, and hps bulbs as you will see most set ups with lights on their side with a reflective hood or something to reflect the light from the side opposite of the plant

what spectrum are you using to do 12/12 from seed?

He's using 2700K

I had 2 2700k and 2 6500k and 1 42w 2700k until I broke one of my 6500ks. I got my ventilation issues handled completely. I found a mini squirrel cage fan at goodwill for $9 when I was record hunting, this thing pumps so much air its ridiculous. The fan doubles as ventilation and as a fan for inside the box. Before I broke one of my bulbs temps were at 84* at the hottest time of day outside and 81* in the mornings and evenings. I also bought a couple large pc case fans for when I add more bulbs down the road.

The plants are looking good, the one that got burnt most severely by the lights is taking a good while to recover but looks to have finally turned things around. The other 2 are looking pretty fantastic, theyve fanned out a lot but have quit stretching towards the lights which I take is a good sign. It feels like theyre growing super slow but i'm sure thats just anticipation messing with my head.

I'll post up some new pictures of the setup and of the plants later today.

This thing blows some serious air, I've got like an 8"x8" square for a passive intake and you could fly a kite in it this thing moves so much air, all the mylar in the box flutters, its solid. Daytime temps 81-84 degrees depending on how hot it is outside. I havent even put my two case fans on yet.





















This gal got burnt bad about 5 days ago and up until a couple days ago I thought she was a goner but it looks like shes trying to come back.

Just got 2 more 23w 6500k's in there, curious to see what it does to my temps.


Total lights right now

2x23w 6500k
1x26w 6500k
2x23w 2700k
1x42w 2700k


160w total cfls

hey lax,,just a little advice,,lose the reflective garbage you have there,with such a small area you have an opportunity to reflect as much as possible utilizing every lumen you can, use whit paint. and you MUST get the light right on top of the plants. You are in the crucial stage, i have been cfling almost two years now and i think im getting it locked.. the lights have to be no more than a inch or two away at all times or you will 100% have long stemmy-reaching plants which will need support down the road..i will post some pics of my 10 day old babies..closer you get that light the thicker and bushier the plant. Also you have to get a air movement. i only use 2 150w eq on each plant, alot of things need to be addressed when cfl growing for maximum yeild. If you just let them go on there own and stretch you will spend 4 months for less than a ounce dry. that plant is only a total of 7 weeks old

With the two extra lights, temps went from 82 to 86, I wired in the 2 pc case fans that I got and now the temps are down to 83/84, I figure in the hottest part of the day itll creep up to 85/86 but the weather outside should be cooling off in a few weeks so i'm not terribly worried about it.

all the bulbs should be the 150w eq..heat is not an issue if you circulate properly. put a small bowl of water to help humidity,, rotate plants a few times a day also. there is no reason a baby should have any burn, they should get no food for at least 2-3 weeks

About 5 days back I had the plants an inch and a half away and they got burned, right now its 3-4 inches and they seem to be happy, should I move the plants closer now that theyre older and see what happens? I have a lot of airflow in the cab from the ventilation, especially now that theyre right by the squirrel cage fan exhaust, i'll have a fan once theyre bigger and out of the bottom where the airs moving fast.


The plants havent grown any taller in the past 4 days since I put my lights about 2.5"-3" away, theyve just filled out their leaves and such, its only been a week or so since theyve sprouted, i'm not really sure how much growth I should expect.

good job though,,nice box,,perfect for side tubes later,,cfl growing is such a learning process and requires twice as much work as hps grows in order to get maximum yeild

you want to get a light fan on the tops of them asap. it will garauntee you develop strong thick stems.and it will move the heat of the top of them..also that does not look like heat burn,IMO..you want the plants swaying just a tad how you do know will mean everything to your yeild.

I can assure you that theyre slightly swaying with the current setup, ive done an asston of reading and all that so I think ive got a handle on what should be happening, its just a matter of execution.



@ctia, your week old sprout and mine arent even on the same level, mine has been stuck in shitty soil, adverse situations heat wise and a bunch of rookie mistakes, at this stage of the game, i'm just trying to learn what works and what doesnt, i'm not concerned with yield and all that, I just want healthy plants that can teach me something.
