6 On 6 Off Light cycle?

Random thought, has anybody tried doing a 6 hours of light 6 hours of dark repeat light cycle. It would still be 12 hours of light and dark per day, though I was thinking maybe it would trick the plant into flower faster thinking that it would think two days pass in the time it takes one to pass.

I was just curious if anybody had tried it, or knew if it would cause more stress than it was worth. Or even simply not work.

Peace & Love.
I've been growing a sativa plant like this for a while now. The manual for my grow light said not to run it for more than 10 hours at a time, so I decided to break up the light schedule to a 6-6 hour schedule so as not to overwhelm the grow light. The plant has been growing a lot, but I can't get it to start flowering. It just keeps growing. When it was young it was really bushy but now it's a lot more stretched out like it's reaching for the light, but I have a 600W in a less than 2 ft grow space and it's closer to the lights than it probably should be. Some of the branches have an even number of leaves which is weird, but most of them are fine. A lot of what I've read people are suggesting that this will cause the plant to be a hermaphrodite, but I can't tell you because I can't get it to flower. I wish I could find someone whose successfully grown a plant this way, but I can't.

What kind of POS grow light are you using that can only go 10 hours? Tell us so nobody goes out and buys crap like that please!

6/6 won't work. I've seen so many nOObs try different light cycles and none of them do better than the standards or screw up their plants trying stuff like that.

I flip to 12/12 to get them flowering then add 15 min every few days to get them up to 13.5 light so they have longer light cycle but keep flowering. Seems to help.

What brand/model light do you have? If you can't run it for more than ten hours then it's worthless for anything other than supplemental lighting. And also, I've never heard of any grow light that states not to run more than ten hours. It doesn't make sense.

As far as 6 on 6 off it doesn't work that way. It's not a total of 12 hours of darkness in a 24 hour period to initiate flowering. It's 12 straight hours of darkness.

It's a Govee LED light I bought on Amazon. In all honesty, I probably could run it for 12 hours straight. My guess is it's probably a precaution so the lamp doesn't overheat or something like that.

Yep. It's amazing that it took so long for someone to chime in with some reality here. Fact is it's about how much uninterrupted darkness you give, not the amount of light, as you pointed out.
