1 dead, 5 injured in shooting near Normandale Park in Northeast Portland

Portland police confirmed that one person was killed and at least five others were injured in a shooting near a demonstration Saturday night. Police took two people into custody in relation to the shooting, according to media reports.

In a statement, the Portland Police Bureau said officers from its North Precinct responded to a call near the intersection of Northeast 55th Avenue and Northeast Hassalo Street around 8 p.m.

“When officers arrived they located a female victim who was deceased,” the bureau said in a press statement. “Additional shooting victims, two men and three women, were transported to area hospitals and their status is unknown at this time.”

The shooting happened near Normandale Park. According to flyers circulated on social media, a group of demonstrators had plans to gather at the park for a “Justice for Amir Locke” event. Minneapolis police killed the 22-year-old Locke, a Black man, after serving a no-knock warrant on a downtown apartment Feb. 2.

Several demonstrators on scene told OPB they saw a person come out of a nearby home and confront a group of about 50 protesters. The person then reportedly shot at the crowd of people. It was not immediately clear if more than one person used a weapon.

This year is going to be a hot one.

NYT reports alt right was ready to deal death that night. Not sure of details. Police aren't even sure if there was only one shooter.

This image tells me it wasn't just a neighbor who opened fire. "Patriot"'s rig (that's the rear view of a a dump trailer) was shot up too. Or maybe his windshield just looks shattered.

Feels like the wild west is here again.

The whole story is yet to be told. Give it a few days.

Let's see, Watson
1st- scene of the crime
Rally organized to bring attention/demand justice for a murdered Black man.
2nd- motive
People showing support for a murdered Black man.

The clues are evident, Watson.

It's obvious that the perp is a Black/Far Left/Communist Democratic Antifa supporter, right?

Couldn't be white/under-educated/male/right wing/NRA member/Trump Republican between the ages of 24 - 54, could it. (I bet mid-30's)

Fucking Leftists opening fire on a group of demonstrators, again.

Something should be done.

It's an Antifa false flag operation. We are so stupid we shoot our own.

Cannot trust what the police say, at least we can't trust their preliminary statements. They've put out false information before, only to change the story later on. So, take the following with a healthy dose of skepticism.

Portland police issued this update Sunday afternoon:

"A preliminary investigation into the February 19, 2022 shooting near the intersection of Northeast 55th Avenue and Northeast Hassalo Street indicates this incident started with a confrontation between an armed homeowner and armed protesters.

"The scene was extremely chaotic, and a number of witnesses were uncooperative with responding officers. Most people on scene left without talking to police.

Not surprised people didn't want to talk to the police. Not after all that's gone down over the past few years. Not after about fifty officers turned their cameras off and shredded Michael Forest Reinoehl

“Saturday’s Portland mass shooting is another wound in a city reeling from gun violence. Portland last year had a record number of homicides and a surge in shootings that has continued in 2022.”

I've taken note how this incident is being rolled up along with police shootings and domestic violence as if they have anything in common.

Simple things for simpletons.

Oregon is a wonderful microcosm of amerika:
State law forbid Black life till when?

The facade of open-minded progressivism that is Portlandia surrounded by dumb fucks trying to secede and become a part of Idaho. I think it's only like 5 counties, but they ain't even connected counties.

Amerikan propoganda/miseducation is the culprit and CRT is too little too late to even stop the bleeding. Smh

From NYT:

One of the victims, Dajah Beck, who turns 39 on Monday and who was contacted through her attorney, said she was shot twice. One bullet went through her side, and the other grazed her knee. Ms. Beck said she was part of a volunteer motorcade group that was working to set up a safety plan and reroute traffic ahead of the march. “We’re not part of the protest,” she said, adding that no one in the motorcade group was armed.

As Ms. Beck and the group were working, with one woman riding in the back of a truck because she walked slower and with the aid of a cane, a man approached a small group of women, screaming that they were “violent terrorists” and repeatedly calling them a misogynist vulgarity. The man said they were the people responsible for violence in the city, Beck recounted, adding that he said: “If I see you come past my house, I’ll shoot you.”

People in the group tried to calm him down. But as Ms. Beck looked away from him toward one of her friends, “that’s when he started shooting,” she said. She fell to the ground after she was shot and crawled behind a truck tire for cover. Moments later, she said, “the first thing that I saw was my two friends on the ground covered in blood.” One of them was the woman who died. Ms. Beck said that at that point, the shooter had been subdued and people were on top of him.

In an ealier post, you rightly identified fearfulness as a source of this kind of violence too.

There is nothing that is more dangerous than a scared white man. Some kook took offense at yet another BLM rally in his neighborhood, confronted people and I don't know what happened to cause him to open fire. No doubt in my mind that fear of Black people that this society has conditioned us to have is part of it. With gun in hand, anger in his belly and fear in his mind, he was on a hair trigger. I expect to hear him say it was somebody else's fault "because he was in fear of his life". "It was self defense".

This year is going to absolutely suck.

Sadly I have nothing to contradict.

To lie directly to another's face, knowing they know you lie, is a demonstration of power over that person.
Tell us more please; demonstration of power..do perps know cops can lie and say anything they want to get you to confess to something?
