Okay so I was looking at all the grow lights and they are frustratingly expensive, especially the LED ones, so I just decided to wire and make one myself and it is working beautifully. If anyone is interested, I can set them up with a 6X 6500K Lumen LED Grow Light kit (everything included just needs solder to string the series of 6 LEDs the way you want it) for just simple plugging in and growing.)

I can send invoices and all that - this is probably a much better option for anyone not wanting to shell out a ton of money ^^

This is a kit for a 6X 6500K indoor grow light. Not only is this a high power grow light, but it is FULL SPECTRUM and is much more energy efficient than incandescent, fluorescent, or halogen lights. While most grow lights will cost $200 or more, you can save a CONSIDERABLE amount of money wiring it yourself. Not only that, but wiring it yourself, you can conform the lights to any container. Once it is soldered - up, all you do is plug it in and grow.

LED lighting is highly sought after because, like the sun, the high power LEDs in this light are FULL SPECTRUM (wavelength goes from red to violet). Idk, I'm not an electrical engineer. What kind of leds are you using? Wavelength data? Power supply? Not that it makes any difference to me. I already decided hid is better, because its simple and less expensive. Just preference.

PLEASE NOBODY WASTE THEIR MONEY ON THIS!!!

If you really want led's and can't afford an actual good panel...get enough cree household bulbs. I'm not kidding, they will put out more light than this guys homemade junk set up, and even some self proclaimed good panels(i.e. china direct). I have tested them and many good panel my self with a par meter.
No offense to the original poster, but you are not helping the led industries credit by trying to sell things like this.

I can get more PAR out of a cheap ebay UFO than this piece of junk.

gee willikers it only has 6 LEDS probably 3 watt cool white chips. You will get more out of an led bulb at home depot, and it doesn't even have a decent spectrum

If there are any electrical experts on here I would like to know if an old computer power supply would be suitable for powering LED lights?
I know they are pretty beefy at 400 to 500 watts and I would like to use LED's to get to this level.
I think that full spectrum is a step backwards as the colors are not tuned....but maybe the savings in getting a more mass produced chip may be better for now.

I have also heard of a technology that uses a blue light and then passes it through a treated glass to get the output colors tuned.
If the 680 wavelength RED light can be filtered out then I believe one could be in flower with the lights on 24 hours and since there is no 680 to impact the flower response that the plants will consider that they are not in long days. I haven't proven this but it may be an interesting experiment for someone that likes to tinker.

You don't state the wattage of the LED but 600,000 millicandles (mcd) is the equivalent of 600 candlepower (intensity output). 1 candlepower = 12.57 lumens so the total output is 7,542 lumens net output measured at the lamp. The measurement at the canopy would depend on the optics of the lamp.

When you compare grow lights, in addition to the intensity the lamp emits you also need to know the spectrum's the lamp is emitting in. For a presumably low wattage LED lamp, 7,500 lumens, (lumens is a human visual value) would mean much of the lamps energy is being emitted in the green, 520-560nm, visual wavelengths which is a region of least importance to photosynthesis.

^^^^^ Another reason why LED's have a bad rep....this setup would probably be ok to get a couple of cuttings to develop roots....about 12-15w's total...

Precisely my thought but you put it into words...an LED mfr might publish in a visual value (lumen) and then convert it to another visual value (MCD) just to make it appear larger and somehow 'better' for their garden.
