600 watt HPS 4x4 flower tent. What size veg area and lighting?

Ok folks give me your opinions on a veg area for a MMP who we know will be flowering in a 4X4X7 tent with a 600W hps , W/cooltube. What size tent and what lighting do you think is appropriate for a vegging/ cloning and possible mothering area?

I would get an identical set up for veg/mother knowing that the plants will be smaller and you can keep the mother healthy with minimal light.

If you have a flower and veg area though...why keep a mother?

ya i would do another 4x4 area as well. Even if your keeping a mother the 4x4 area gives you a little room to hold another mother or a small clone area or what ever else you want to have in there. Always good to have a little extra room.

My new tent I ordered is 4x8. I plan on splitting it into 2 4x4 areas and having one for clone veg and mother and the other for bloom/flower

I like your plan. But this is not for me. It looks like we might be going with a 2x4x5 veg tent with 400W MH digital dimmable ballast W/cool tube.

Oh gee, maintain a mother to keep the good genetics? WOW I NEVER THOUGHT of that!!! Wow dude, that's awesome!! And here I was just taking clones of my vegging plants.

Oh BTW, cool tubes are about the worst fucking reflector you can buy.

Jesus man, you got google where you live?
1) What's so bad about cool tubes? 2)I have an account at rollitup. It's a well known and respected online cannabis community. I've started a thread in a growroom setup forum, and have entered into a discussion about a veg set-up. You think I should abandon this approach and just use google? Too funny.

cool tubes cut down on lumen because of the curved glass. I average 6-7 oz per grow with my 400w cool tube. I only grow one plant at a time though. They aren't terrible, they aren't the best choice either.

I understand the glass reduces the lightpower but it also allows for getting the plants closer to the light, which obviously increases the light power. So.....? Or is it specifically the curved glass reduces it to the point that proximity no longer matters. Would an air coolable hood with a flat piece of glass be better? I personally run a 400W HPS with a DIY cooltube made from a hurricane lantern. I think it's the fuckin bomb. I can have tops 8 inches from the bulb(bottom and sides) with no stress. I pull 4 z's a plant 3 at a time in a 2x4x5 tent.

The glass dosn't matter tooo much. You don't want your lights that close to your plants anyways. I can get my hoods 6" from my tops and keeep leaf temps in check but I would never do that anyways as you will basically fry the shit out of them.

Reflectors are not just "reflectors" Believe me when I say that the probability that your hurricane lantern thing actually sucks dick is very very high. Reflectors are all about the shape and how they reflect the light in terms of eveness and intensity. Two hoods that look similar can have very different light patterns and effectivness. I have done A LOT of testing of different hoods and set ups. Cool tubes actually score very low on several websites that have posted results becuase their hood shape eats dick ITs comical really, about 30% of the bulb or more is not even being reflected.

If you really want to know the best hood for a 4x4 its the blockbuster 6. Hands down. I was soo impressed I bought 12 of them after using one for a grow. high quality, good size, great seals, just super hoods. And they tested really well.

google greeners AC hood review or air cooled hood test. there is also a great thread on ICmag with cp readings and patterns from different hoods.. its like 100 pages long.

I'm all about vertical after the last grow though :) NO hoods, no ducts, no dirty glass, no fucking fans. Just lots of bulbs, huge AC and 2 lb trees. Again, not for you but its a good way to go in legal states.

The size of your veg should be based on how many plants you can legally grow
How many you actually grow.
For instance if you only run 4 plants at a time in flower then you need less veg plants and space than if you run 8 in flower

I think it's going to be a 4x4 veg tent as well. I think you want enough room to be able to grow non-feminized plants. My personal veg area is too small. I can't afford to waste space on what might be a male. But the best genetics are not feminized. So if you want 4 plants to flower you might want to start twice that many and have them vegging till you sex them. So I think you wants at least as much veg space as you have flower space. It just doesn't have to be as tall. Me thinks.

Funny how you just keep answering your own questions.

Certain people just can't take advice. I tell you your hood is likely a POS.. And you counter with a picture of a single cola plant. Lol.

I got new for you, you have a fair bit to learn about the game.
