600w or 1000w

So I'm debating in what to get I just ordered a 4x4x7 tent and I'm wondering what would be better a 600w hps or a 1000w hps. I have a air cool hood reflector for it and a 6" 440cmf fan for it. I've read that the 600 produces more lumens per watt and can be closer to the canopy but the 1000w would yield more if you have the height room for it. Which would you guy prefer? I've never grew with either one but I've been growing with a 400w for a while and 300w led panel and now growing with a DiY led panel too. I just can't afford the cost to build a big panel right now and I need the heat from the hps in the winters where I live and I'll use the LEDs in the summer once I can afford them.

Hey mate i think with that size area 1000watts will be fine long as the temps don't get to high and its going to hammer the 600 in yield another thing to think of is two 600 they will have better coverage and out yield the 1000 plus the lumen output is a lot more 2x600 watt 180k vs 1x 1000 watts 14k

as you say its you need the heat from the hps i would recommend running them at night as that's when the temps are going to drop the most and you don't want to have the temps drop more then 10 when lights are off or it will stunt the girls

whatever you end up doing should start a log so we can all watch all the best

No yeah I was thinking the same thing too. I'll have a heater in the tent or the shed that I'll have the tent in and the shed itself will be insulted too this fall. I'll see what works best and go from there I hope to have my shed wired up in the next week or so I've gotta dig a trench and run wore from my house to the shed and wire in the breaker box and wire in some lights. Stoked to get this going. Thanks for the input.

Sounds good also a good tip a buddy of mine told me was if growing in a shed

Make a trench from inside your shed to outside

With 150mm pvc and put a elbow on each end and use that to pull fresh air in or blow the hot air out

If using as a inline becuase it's underground the air will be cooler and if blowing the air out it will cool it down put some pot plants round it on the outside of the shed and it's nice and stealth

Anyway best of luck

I'd stick the 600W HPS in, and if you want extra lighting use cxb2530 3000k U2.... then convert the whole thing to cxb2530 3000k U2 bin... lol

Yeah I have a dimmable ballast it goes down to 400w. Stupid question but is it cool to run the 1000w bulb at 600w if the heat is to much? Yeah I'll be converting to all LEDs when I can afford it. But in the winters I might have to use the hps. Once I get some cycle under my belt with the 4x4 I'm gonna upgrade to a 4'x8' tent and run LEDs on one side and hps one the other in the winter and all led in the summers.

The bulb will run, but it will "shorten" it's lifespan.
