Alrighty. So I will be puting a new room together pretty soon and it's the most "professional" set up I've ever done. All of my other grows have been small floro grows. For this room I'm planning on building a 6x6x6 panda film and 2x4 room. It will be in a basement with typical midwestern temps. High of 90s in the summer, highs in the single digits sometimes in winter. I have the budget for a digital 1000w mh/hps switchable light. I am planning of having 10 plants in there from start to finish. The part where I need some help is with heat and ventilation requirements. Will I need a cool hood or can I get away with a standard wing reflector? What size carbon filter will I need? What cfm fan for the filter? If I need a cool hood I've already got plans to use either a 4" or 6" inline fan and dedicated ducting for light cooling. Odor control is a big issue, and I don't know what cfm fan and filter size it will take to meet the requirements of a room that size/ heat build up of a 1k light. Sorry for so many questions, but I couldn't find a good answer anywhere. Lol. Any help is much appreciated. =D Happy tokin'.

If your doing month or so veg time i would do 9 plants and put scrog net... wall to wall buds.

My 6x6 i had 12 plants and they grew huge and plants were all touching each other and inner nodes were weak and couldnt do airflow ect. 3 rows of 3 and gre em into the scrog and switch bulb to the hps. Should have good yeild. Prob more yeild with 9 confortable than 10 branching to each other. I read 6" inline air cooled light would keep temps at 70s range. Hopefully low 80s and buy co2 tank for couple hundred.

Thanks for the info! Any ideas as to what cfm rating I would be looking for? Are you talking about a Vortex type fan or just a regular ducting fan? How about carbon filter size?

The fan rating will be irrelevant if you are not pumping in Central air into that space. it is small for a 1000 watt in that area if the ambient temp is going to get 90 degrees

myself i would a/c the room with a small window mount unit, itll also help keep humidity down its just a little more pricey when you add in the extra power used. as for odor control mount a carbon filter to the roof with an inline fan just set to scrub. if the a/c is setup to recycle the air and not blow it outside you have a perfect enviroment to add co2 if your room is sealed. the way i stated I believe you can run co2 and have your scrubber constantly on during flowering. i cant give any advice on aircooled reflectors because ive never run one.
