818 HeadBand and Purple Chem from Cali Connection

October 17th, 5 days into the flower phase, things are looking great. Its amazing how much growth you can get in a hydro set-up when things are dialed in corectly. These plants are only a month old.... AWESOME GROWTH!!!

this was taken on Oct. 19th. Roots look great, nice and white. I will start giving them some nutrients starting tonight, and by this wednesday i should have then in some hydroton starting their 3 week veg.

Bad news, just found a hermie Purple Chem. so that makes atleast one hermie out of every Cali Connect grow ive done. that sucks ass... Ive grown Tahoe OG twice, Larry OG, Raskals OG, DeadHead OG and now my Purple Chem hermied. Ill keep a close eye on my 818 HeadBand.... Ive grown from DNA and Barneys with no hermies multiple times. I think the Cali Connection gear was the dankest, but DAMN....

As far as the hermies go, I'm cool with tossing 1 here and there to have a shot at a top shelf keeper in a pack of 10.

thanks, i agree. The seeds were fem tho. A pack of 6 for $120, one didnt germinate and i had to toss one. So that leaves me with 4 purple chems for $120. $30 a seed is alot. Ill see how the yield is before i consider doing Cali Connection again.

these pics are from yesterday, Nov 6th. As you can see, i had to take the top completely off of the grow tent. These plants have gone crazy. Even after I took the top off and mounted my 1000w HPS to the rafters in my basement, they kept growing and got burnt at the tops of the colas. The purple chem herm that i cut down stood from the floor to just under my nose, and im 5'11''. Im speachless on how fast and large these have gotten.....

Nov 6th. clones are still looking pretty good.

Nov 14th, buds are looking good so far, nice and frosty. I think there pretty nice sized for still having one month of flowering to go. This is the purple chem....

I have some 818 beans but germed the Holy Grail Kush from Cali Con instead. All look uniform so far but its early days yet...
How did you get the top off your tent?

thank you, the front and the sides unzip on the tent. so i did that and just rolled it back. on the inside front of the tent there are a few velcro tabs. I used a knife and cut them a little and used heavy duty zip-ties to attach it to the frame.

do you grow in the loft? I do so can't turn my tent into a convertable
Having the same stretch probs as you dude, just praying they slow down now!
Is this the first time you've grown Cali Con? I never have and everything I've heard is mixed re their genetics but they have some amazing strains.

I grow in a basement, the top of my tent is about 6 inches ( 15 cm ) from the rafters. so i just put some I-bolts in the wood and mounted the light to that. And yes, ive grown Cali Connection before: Tahoe OG (twice), Larry OG, Raskals OG, DeadHead OG and the two strains im doing now. Ive had Hermie issues with all of them, but the smoke is fire, no doubt about that!!!

i harvested last thursday, the 818 did not turn out at all. most of the bud sites were above the light. so im gonna try the 818 one more chance. The purple chem came out great!!! Ill post some pics tomorrow. my guess is apx 11 to 12ozs. and thats just 4 girls. looks and smokes great. Purple Chem is a keeper for me.
