Normally I’d encourage the heat. This is gotta be the first year I’m praying for rain ahaha but someone did mention that when it gets too hot the buds don’t produce thc properly and it stunts the growth of the plant... not sure how true that is.
The real THC and bud development happens a few weeks into flower. Weather should be cooling off by then.

Very true, unfortunately, cannabis tends to like cooler temps around 25c, of course that is optimal. although sativa's usually are more resilient to heat than indicas and rudarelis ( the auto flower gene), because of the regions they come from. But 36c is pushing either way I think. IDK why you'd run an hps without a cooltube.
If you want me to be 100% truthful I know full well a cool tube would be beneficial but I’m in a bit of financial trouble at the moment because of the impact of corona. The money I could spend on a cool tube could quite easily be spent on a more important bill right now. Today the weather has cooled right down though. I’m confident it’ll be alright. The UK has weird weather. One day it’ll be 32C the next day it’s 16C . Heatweaves are infrequent, they usually last a few days to a week max, then there’s usually always a thunder and lightening storm, which then cools down the air. Then it’ll rain for a week. Then go back to being nice. Etc.

Yea man, you know how to navigate your situation best, the important thing is that you know you'll be better using it.
I've never used HPS lamps, and seeing them run open like this always make me cringe :D.

I think the best advice I can give anyone during summer is to ditch hps all together and go with LED for summer and HPS for winter, where it’s colder and you’ll need more heat from the lamp.

Haven’t done an update in a while guys which I do apologise for. Been very busy. Don’t worry, I haven’t been busted (yet) lol

The plants are just perfect. The buds are looking juicy as. There is a tiny amount of nutrient burn on the tips of the leaves but nothing I’m overly concerned about.

Pics below.

Nice journal man. only thing to control temps in summer is switch to LED. I just got 2 QBs, and I actually needed to add my hps on 250w alongside to raise the temps. Tent wouldn’t go above 22c with the quantum boards on full power lol. Crazy! Hope the temps don’t affect it to much, ive ran grows on 32/34c and plants seemed okay. Just have to run with it. Good job Barry Scott.

Nice to see a fan of the wonders of Cillit Bang. Works wonders on grime, limescale and ground in dirt. :bigjoint:

Well, I wished for storms, rain and cooler weather and we’ve had nothing but that for the last 2 weeks now. They’re 7 weeks old, and should only really have a max of about 2-3 weeks left of the “advertised 9 week flowering”, maybe a tad longer if needed. Next week is forecast to be highs of around 18C So I’m really not concerned by temps at the moment if I’m being honest. Currently it’s 24C in the tent which I’d say is perfectly fine for flowering.

Hoping to get 2oz dried off each plant, which should give me around 18-20 oz for the entire crop.

After this, I’ll be stopping growing until we hit November/December when temps plummet and I’ll have far better control of the temps with the HPS.

I’ll be posting more updates thou guys so stay tuned.

As we approach the end of week 8, and move shortly into week 9, the plants have budded and matured very quickly and nicely. A lot of the fan leaves have died and fallen off which I’m a bit concerned about, I’m guessing this is normal? I pulled a lot off my last grow and didn’t see it through to the end with fan leaves which I felt was a mistake so lack of experience is getting me on this one. Other that that, seems alright! some pics below. I stopped nutrients last week, it’s only had water up to this point and I’ll only give it water at 6.5 ph till the end which has been my standard ph throughout.

That first and last pic are how my tops grew. Nice and chunky. My plants dropped a good number of leaves in mid flower as well.

You have 2-3 more weeks from what I'm seeing. You havent even gotten any of the pinks/purples yet.

This was mine the day i cut her up.

man that looks good! What was the smoke like? How long did you cure for?

I hope mine ends up that pinkish and purplish. I’m worried it won’t incase the temps go up but at the moment it’s around 25c consistently.

My temps were 26-28c. Color is all about genetics. Smoke was very fruity flavor. Not the strongest I've had but still decent.

Vast majority of the leaves are now yellow. I’m worried I’ve done something wrong. I reckon I’m about 4 days away from cutting them down.

This is how mine looked when I cut it. A lot of fast buds autos seemed to yellow out really bad a week or two before it was time to cut them.

Yeh mine look nothing like that at all. I’ll stick some pics of the whole plant up. They’ve all yellowed really bad this is despite me keeping my PH consistent at 6.5 and feeding nutrients up until just shy of 2 weeks ago when I just flushed with 6.5PH water only and continued water only no nutrients.

No point me photographing all 9 they all pretty much the same as this - heavy side branches causing flopping of the branches... giant main cola and more buds than leaves.

not a hint of purple in sight
