A bit of a conundrum?

Any suggestions or tips would be great! I'm trying to get my new grow put together and need some advice. Here's what I need help with.

When I think of the fan for the filter, I'm a little unsure.:? I don't know how many cfm's will be too much or too little. Most filter I've seen recommend around 200 cfm. My filter is 6", most 6" fans are 300+ cfm. For the size of my room (170cf) 4" fans are were it's at. This one,

would be able to clear my room in about 2 min, but does it move enough air to make the filter effective? Or this one

would clear my room in less than a min, but does it move to much air to be effective? Any suggestions???

I'd use the 4" with the 95cfm and get a 6'' to 4'' reducer.
However the 190 is a lot better of a fan with variable speed control.
It will be quieter and may be less to operate in the long run.
But either way if you have then on timers both should be adequate for your room size.

Thanks for the reply Joe!!!

I'm leaning towards the 190 cfm.
I like the price of the other better, but I want it to work properly.
What schedule for a timer would recommend for a carbon filter?

Thanks for the link.

I should have worded my question better.:dunce: What schedule should the fan run on? How ofter should I exchange the air in the room? I know I've read it somewhere I just can't find it.:peace:

In a 500 square foot. (example)
you need 5 air changes / hour
That properly conditions the room.
So if you take half that. you need 2 to 2.5 air changes/ hour.

If your fan ran 2 to 3 times for 10 min/hour I think you'd be golden.
Considering that fan would clear the area off pretty quick.

Hey I found some more accurate numbers for you.

here you go.

TO HELP YOU FIGURE WHAT SIZE FILTER AND FAN YOU NEED, HERE IS A SIMPLE WAY TO FIGURE IT OUT.

WIDTH X LENGTH X HEIGHT = CUBIC FEET

(TO BE EFFECTIVE-THE AIR IN THE ROOM SHOULD BE EXCHANGED AT LEAST ONCE EVERY 5 MINUTE)

CUBIC FEET / 5 MINUTES = CFM NEEDED

EXAMPLE:
8 X 8 X 8 = 512 CU FT

512 / 5 = 102 CFM NEEDED

Going by that, I need about a 35 CFM fan. I'll probably look for something between the 2 I posted. Around 120 or 130...... Excuse me,, but I've been very indecisive tonight. If I go to small, It will be a waist. If I got the bigger one, and can adjust it.... It would be easy to go up or down and get it right. I'm not paying what they want for the 190 CFM fan I posted........

Thanks again!!
