a/c question

I would rather import frozen bugs and air from outside than run an air unit when it's less than 50* F outside.

So what's the problem here?:-o

gladstonded,
on my mini split's they have a "D/C inverter" dno what the D/C means but what it does is makes the a/c beable to run efficiently even if it drops below -5 F outside... i plan to build a shelter around mine for the winter so the snow doesnt pile up and it will also keep it a lil warmer.. (the shelter needs air flow tho so dont cancel that out if you do something like this... hope this helps ya man
the dc inverter has nothing at all to do with an ac working better at low temperatures. you need a mini that has a low ambiant temperature option, and most have it available now. the dc inverter converts ac to dc so the frequency can be changed,ie 60hrz. this allows the compressor to operate at variable speeds, slowing down and speeding up as needed instead of stopping and starting which uses lots of electricty and has more wear and tear on parts. my unit will operate down to 0 degree ambiant temp.

sorry didnt realize that. they made it sound like that was what it was for im sure i just heard them wrong but regardless my mini's run at -5 n it is a low ambient kit

the reason i am going to run the units all winter is because i run a completely sealed room no air cooled lights.. last winter i had to constantly change my fan speed for my aircooled lights because they would condesate the colder the air the easier it is to condensate if the temp changed 10 degrees i would have to change the fan speed it was too much to deal with and now i run a PERFECT environment 365 days a year i set the temp/ humidity and its kept there never have to change anything

That is it. And the temps fluctuate up here so crazy. I want everything as consistent as possible, I don't want to mess with it.

Thank you for explaining that. The mr. slims must not have low ambient temp option. Or he doubled price when I said grow rooms. What he explained was the heat would work at that low temp though. Either way, thank you and I will go with cheaper units and install myself.

You were close enough, to where I knew I was gonna make it happen. I will need that shelter also. A little creativity and it won't be obvious that there are multiple units outside also. lmao. Dual-purpose.

Glad I failed to mention earlier that if installing your own you'll need a pump to pull a vacum. Having a quality air compressor I was able to purchase a Venturi style pump for about $20, but now have a Robinair for purging, still under $100 and I'm sure you can put it to use afterwards.

I will contact you when I am doing it. I'll post pics, quite a few people getting mini splits.

a wall air conditioner, does not use the transfer of air form one room to the other either. but splits run more efficiently

dripping ductwork, moldy inlet/outlets, outrageous mold spore counts in the grow room. when hot touches cold, it cannot be avoided.

Dude is that hole for that big ass AC from your Garage??? way too much for one room you will freeze your gurls tits off.. That was enough for the lung room. then pull from there. unless you box the exhaust end it will heat up the rest of your basement.
YOu can never have too much air conditioning man. I use my monsters to fully express genetics like these pics. without the natural temp swings, fertilizer depletion, and light deprivation, as found in nature, a plant will never fully express. get two ac units !!!
mine exhausts right into the barn, and a solar fan removes it from the barn, the moment "lights on" happens in the flower room !! The super insulated 34r room is exactly the temperature(s) I want it to be in my sealed room. Even the c02 generator is water cooled, and the water sits in the barn all year, on the other side of the wall that the generator is hung on. I use no outside air, and recycle and scrub 100% of the air inside every hour, fresh, smells like ganja, and does not escape the the room !

Amazon is carrying Senville now. That is good to hear. I will load card and order this one in a few hours. Then find out when they will have another.
I forget which company fills order, but it isn't the kid from msw.
I was going to go with more expensive unit, but it just doesn't make sense. It is cheaper to buy multiple units, opposed to a multi-zone unit. That is pretty bass-akwards I thought.
Whatever. mind is made up. AC and Tamisanium. Next!

go with the lg.
Just too much money. I was leaning heavy on Multi-zone Mitsubishi installed.
Now I am shifting back to 2-Senville 24k btu Mini Splits. and a Tamisium.
...........some beans with the change.

Ordered the 1st AC from Amazon about 20 minutes ago. I will post pics of install. (Unless I fuck it up, then we won't talk about it.)

I want to get a split next spring so I'll be watching for that install.

I only use outside air for my hood in a closed system.
One hood and sidelights - temp is manageable without drawing fresh air from outside the house.

But of course when you start lining up HID hoods the ambient temps are going to get hairy.

After this Summers relentless heat I'm thinking of a 'mini' mini-split myself.
I have an idea I need to talk with my Heating and Cooling friend about.
If it's worthy I'll let you guys know about it.
Otherwise I'm keeping it to myself because I've already embarassed myself enough in this thread.

You are one of the most knowledgeable people on this forum. Not only with knowledge of mj either.
I do not think you should be worried about embarrassing yourself. lol.

So I got an email saying my order was canceled cuz item is out of stock. I am not even fucking kidding. Again. spent last hour cussing out various people at Amazon.
Fucking test first thing this morning, then I am playing phone tag with Amazon, Amazon vendor, ol lady on road, casino, court, prosecutor, motherfucker!!!!!!!:cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::wall:!!

OK, got that out of my system. Contacted ac salesman. He said that he would knock $250, if I prepaid and waited for shipment 10/1. I just about freaked the fuck out, then realized it's sept 4th already. What the fuck happened? It's really September?? My God I must medicate too much!

I don't have too much choice, fucking money is off card. lmao. It's a Walmart card, who knows when they will get around to putting money back. Will throw $250 at a bean order. They will go find me another ac.

Sorry to hear that man.

I may be getting it sooner then later. I want to return my portable unit and pick up a mini split from Home Depot. I have 224 feet.

http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1vZc307/h_d2/Navigation?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&storeId=10051

The current portable one's exhaust is too much, I only have those small basement windows that are surrounded by huge glass blocks. Plus in flower the smell will go out the window. Thats what justifies it the most.

What do you think. Some of the reviews are ok but the installation sounds iffy.

Im also confused as to why they dont have the Mitsubishi units online but I see the display for them in store.

This is the extent of what I was told, and why I didn't take ride to Home Depot in Iron Mountain. Mini splits are a lot more efficient that a window unit. The base mini split is a 13 seer. For every seer over 13 you'll save an average of $10/mo on electric bill. That is average grow room (more than half of all mini splits sold are for grow rooms). I am looking at a 19 seer unit. That's $60/mo cheaper. Every month!! Two years it paid for itself. (In electricity, better have paid for itself in grow. lol)

Install sounds iffy is fucking right. It'll happen though. That would be pretty sweet if you pull trigger first and I can see how successful you are. lmao.

. I talked to this dude earlier. He called me back but I was on an important call. This dude will knock $250 for me to wait. I said well since we are kicking it, I might be able to off a dozen or two in next year between rollitup, myself, friends, patients going on own. etc. He got real interested, and want to talk in morning. If you can wait that long, should hook you up. That's not even 4 weeks. (I will be just sick, if I am out fucking with this thing in snow. lmao)
