A Friendly Warning To Newbies

I don't claim to be an expert in cannabis cultivation -- I'm only on my second grow -- but I've learned and read enough information on the subject to know that there is a TON of disinformation here in the newbie forums spread by inexperienced growers who, frankly, don't know what the fuck they are talking about.

To those of you looking for advice, be forewarned that answers to your questions may or may not be accurate. Check the post history and rep of the individual offering you help and decide for yourself whether or not you should follow their advice.

If you're asking basic questions about growing, like about what kind of soil or nutrients to use, how much lighting, etc., chances are you haven't read the Grow FAQ. Read it first by clicking here: https://www.rollitup.org/view.php?pg=faq

Finally, if you are inclined to try and help someone out in here, PLEASE PLEASE make sure you are absolutely positive you know what you are talking about before replying. If you are unsure but want to help anyhow, be clear in your reply that you are not 100% positive that your advice is sound.

Not trying to stir up any shit, but some of the answers in the Newbie forums are absolutely ridiculous and a total newb is not going to know any better. I would hate to see a first-timer fuck up their grow because they followed someone's poor advice. Just a reminder to those folks that you can't always believe everything you read on the internet. :)

Carry on.

Well said buddy, well said.

I find it funny how even though while I have only grown once, I still feel I have a certain expertise on the subject, just as you do. I suppose it is because marijuana takes so long to grow, and in the downtime all we do it study on how to do it better! :) Works for me.

LOL well if you're so good at what you do then go to my grow and tell me what I'm doing wrong from listening to all these NUBS!

speaking newb to newb

im also on my second and i, in fact, do know everything.

if you want to know how to fatten your stems by putting penut butter in your hair, find me
did you know that you could make your leaves transparent simply by chewing on a leather whip?
and if youre nice, i may even show you my eighty minute grow.

no, seriously thats good advice wbd

jack, ive heard that flat white paint is better than foil (cheaper than mylar too).

foil creates hot spots, at least thats what ive read (over and over) around here.

if you cant find/afford mylar then flat white paint is both affordable and spruces up a dreary grow room, making your visit twice the treat.

Newbies would be wise to purchase one of jorge cervantis' growers guides or the like and VERIFY what they are advised. Second opinions build confidence and using a reputable book source as the second opinion will teach newbies to research for the FACTS not opinions!!!!

You are totally right.. I get bad advice from douche bags all the time.. i guess alot of things ppl say can be a matter of opinion also . you know what i mean? Theres a lot of things that ppl can do differently, that other may or may not agree with... but you're right, reading the grow faQ is the BEST idea.. there's so much information there on everything. I cant stand it when someone who has like 3 post will comment on my threads, when i know they dont know what the F* theyre talking about. Im no expert, but damn it do some research!! Lol

Hey there. I got mylar pretty cheap, about 15 bucks for a 100 foot roll.

Definitely good advice - with one caveat - just cause it is published in a book doesn't make it a fact. Sometimes the marijuana books are guilty of perpetuating myths just as bad (worse really since they got published) as anonymous folks on a forum.
