Hi guys. Just thought I'd let people know about a company in the uk called garland that make both 100x100 cm and 120x120 cm trays for around £30. As a newbie hydro grower I know too well the dangers of shelling out a lot of money for trays. And aside from the dangerous and quite stupid idea of 'building your own' tray with ply and pondliner, there aren't many other options. When buying a flood tray or something else that is not flood tray but does the same job. There are things newbies should look out for. Quite often the size of a flood tray may well be for example 4'x4' but in actuallity the internal dimensilons (actuall plant space). This can be quite decieving as people generally either start their planning by working out how many plants and trays they can fit into a given space. And I personaly have seen 4x4 trays which in acctuality only 3'8"x3'8". To rig up one of these trays for use in a hydroponic system is really rather easy. All yo need to do is drill the holes for the fill/drain and the overflow fittings. Use a step drill bit to do this as drilling with a spade bit or auger bit which might actually be the right size for the job but are unreliable for drilling through plastic like this. I hope some people find this and find this helpfull. If I could start from scratch knowing what I know now I wouldve bought 4 of the metre square trays instead of 2 4x6 trays for which I ended up paying £110 each. Grow long and prosper my friends :D
