A little LST on LSD

Hey everyone, I've been searching LST on here recently and haven't seen a whole lot of good stuff. Let's talk about it.

I'm new to LST but I've heard of different methods. What's yours? Why do you feel it works so well?

My first time doing lst I followed a youtube video that used scotch tape to tape the leaves down. Lol not a very good job of explaining. Needless to say my girl needed some help standing up straight again. Now I use zip ties, one at the base for stem support and one where every I'm bending. I feel the zip ties are sturdy enough to keep a good hold and I can leave them loose around my plant so as to not cause any damage.

I always start the lst at the beginning of a day for maximum light exposure(I've heard some say right before bed for less stress). I think it's more stress if they don't have the light for strength, but that could just be my opinion.

Anyways let's hear your thoughts..

The entire time it is alive. I don't fully cut them off till the day of harvest. It helps keep the buds spaced out to prevent bud rot. I am constantly puttin new string on and cutting old pieces off up until about week 5-6 of flower. I usually do it right after it streches th e wait a couple weeks and do it again so the inner buds get more light. Just make sure you water the day before you tie them down, it helps with not breaking the branches. I've never broke one off yet

Excellent. I'm in hydro so my stems are good.

Also I've heard topping is only good on some strains. On others it could effect the final yield. But lst doesn't?

I currently have 12 strains and I've topped most of them. The only thing I've found is how quickly some react to it. My blue widow it did not slow down one bit whereas my og kush #18 it slows for about 3-5 days before it really takes off. Then I have some plants that I don't find a need to top like my mr nice guy. It grow short and super bushy so I don't top that one

I found LST to work well with weights to lower the head of the plant to same level or under the other growth, I also tie a loop above the first pair of leaves to keep the stem straight up in place.
I think using the weights is better(for me at least) because tying rope around the plant can take a lot of maintenance, whereas weights are quick to relocate, besides the knots can stress your plant by tightening up too much around the stem or branch.

I'm a newbie with this, but in just a week the branch growth has increased greatly. Great success ^^

We have been growing with LST also-- wouldn't grow any other way EVER again....
We start tying (we never FIM or Top) as soon as they are tall enough and keep tying as they continue to branch in veg-- once they go 12/12- we remove the ties and let them reach up--- and end up with a canopy that resembles SCROG without using a screen!

If you want them-- here's some links to tutorials w/photo's as well...
looks like you already got someone who's got their game-on helping ya- but extra info never hurts.... ;)

Beautiful!! I'm excited to have successful lst grow!

No- topping is just that.. cutting off the top of the main...and losing the biggest bud site on the plant.
Always best to tie down the top instead of removing it- especially in any Indica Dominant strains- unless the breeder has info on doing it posted....
