A Triple-Threat, or... The woes of three strains.

Aloha my fellow RIPer's~

Thanks for checkin' this out, appreciate you takin a minute or three to see what's up.

I have been lurking around here for a while now, reading all the info I can and going thru some excellent GJs. GREAT info here esp. the stuff on PH, which I needed. I decided to not post anything in the "introduce yourself" section for now as I have a small learning curve for the RIP interface. So I will begin here~

I am a first time clone grower, that is, I grew the moms from seeds and use them as donors. The first time I forgot the clonex (duh), and it didn't root very well. This time I used a diluted mixture of ROOT 66 to "hold" them in until I could trim them and put them in sponge pucks (if thats what they're even called), and the clonex of course.

They are about 7 weeks old today; really tho they ALL rooted differently. SwD's was in 5 days, SoD was a week after that and the AK-47 was beautiful as clones the whole time but took almost 3 weeks to root well enough. When they say "strain specific" I guess thats what they're talkin about too.

I am in day 6 of flowering. (boring and I have separation anxiety)
I am currently growing 3 different strains in a 4 x 8 x 7 tent: AK-47, Sour Diesel, and an Indica called Sweet Dreams. (I know, I know... they're kinda boring strains these days
)
I have them in 16 qt. containers, in FF OF soil, ammended with 2 bags perlite per 1.5 cu.ft., geo-hummus, and dolomite lime (my PH thing).
I am using the whole line of FF nutes and solubles and am about to get some molasses (excellent LONG read here @ RIP on molasses, wow!) and some beneficial bacteria tomorrow to boost roots and nute-uptake (I hope). Great White Shark I think.

I have 2 600W, digital/dimmable remote balasts with the "enhanced-spectrum" (thier words) Hortilux HPS bulbs, and is directly cooled thru a central A/C line and pulled thru by a 600cfm extractor fan. Thank fully I do not need any odor control so the whole place can just be free to "dank-stank". No complaints with this set up so far.

Temps stay btwn. 65F-lights off, & 85F-lights on with a RH of btwn. 45%-65%. I have LST'd most of them, but I left a few Sweet Dreams (indica-SwD) so that I could compare the height and bud formations and stuff like that. I do read about this stuff constantly but i know I will make more mistakes along the way. Glad MJ is so forgiving (sometimes).

About the AK-47? Can you say S-T-R-E-T-C-H? (I bought more wire today for LST... ha!)
I am a sarcastic person, to be sure. Not mean, just a lil sarcastic and cynical at times... ALL sarcasm welcome here esp. if its clever! Just as long as its not hateful its all good.

Thanks for stoppin by.
Ok, now... for my next trick I will TRY and upload some pics. I'm just gonna put up some general stuff and as time goes on I will post more specific photos.

Mahalo nui loa~
(thank you very much)

In order: 1.) AK Baby, veg/flower tent, baby AK gettin LST'd, AK LST'd a couple weeks later, my Sea of AK (luv this pic), "THE CHOSEN FEW"-MOM's tent, and a SoD (notice the s-t-r-e-t-c-h after just 5 days? Crazy!

Don't wanna stop you before you hit the ground running, as everything is looking good! I don't know much about FF's nutrients, but from what i do know, conditioning the soil with benes and molasses won't be of much help. These are synthetic nutrients, beneficials are used to help breakdown organics into salts, synthetics are already in salt form, so just ph as usual and your maximizing nute uptake....

Just trying to save you 50 bucks. :bigjoint:

Thank you WN (luv that name!), bc I do not need to waste any cash! Yeah I was just wondering bc I do have "organic" stuff in there like sea & bat guano, alfalfa, bone/blood meal, etc., appreciate the knowledge AND the $50.00!

Yeah the mycos will help your plants digest all that organic material in your soil, your spot on with the organic amendments, and with the ffof and i've seen a solid 4 weeks of growth without nutes in 2 gallon containers. Once you start adding the FF nutes you'll be relying on their nutritional value, and most of your organic "colony" per say will just die out with the use of salts. The idea of organic gardening is to get enough amendments to where your plants will never use the bottled nutes, which can be hard... :bigjoint:

If you have time to read, check out subcool's super soil in the organic section, and if you decide to bite the bullet with something like Great White Shark, theres a sticky in the Deep Water Culture section called "heisenbergs DWC rootslime cure" or something along those lines, he explains a simple way to "breed" the bacteria in a tea, allowing you to use much less than the recommended amount per application.

I'll definitely be around for updates, bet they'll be some happy campers throughout the grow! :leaf:

Aloha WN~

Thank you for that info. You know I forgot until now (stoner) that, that happens when you start using the chemical ferts. that eventually that's all the nutrition that they will be getting due to the effects of those exact chemicals on the "organic matter and thier processes". It would have been pointless at this juncture. Yeah, yeah... money saved! I did get it anyway as I have some babies and stuff going on, more on that a lil later! :)

Ok so... lemme get super comfy, twist a few, make some coffee, update this gj, and settle in for a nice long day @ RIP! EXCELLENT!

:bigjoint:Aloha Fellow RIPer's ~

Just wanted to do a lil update to my gj since I have been so very busy and slacking here I realize.

I am about to be in my fourth wk of flowering (ALMOST half way ) as of Thursday and so far everything is fine (for the moment). All ladies looking good and as of yesterday I started to see the beginnings of "Frost"! Yay! My favorite! Anyway...

I have finally worked my way up to full-strength nutes last time (@ 90+%), began the bloom nutes and they seem to be liking it. My plan is to "temper" the feedings with just pure water a time or two (maybe, as needed), just cause I'm scared and I'd rather be safe here so..

I'm nervous about harvest windows and am gonna get this really cool hand help scope that'll let me upload em (pics) to my putr, this way I can get a consensus here. Basically I am finding conflicting "flowering times" for these strains, 6 wks, or 8 wks., or 8-9wks, or ... I'll read more because I know there must be physical signs that'll help me figure out when to stop nutes. I'm cool with earlier rather than later.

Anyway lemme upload some of these pics. Sry about the quality and I "cropped" them for close ups so I have no idea what they'll look like once here.

mahalo nui~

P.S. I have made ALL new MOMS and have 3 new strains about to pop and all organic. I wanted to start new moms from babies fed organically so we'll see how all this works out! I am way excited about it!

1.) A sea of Sour-D, 2.) Sour-D profile view, 3 & 4.) SD Close up, 5 & 6.) Sweet Dreams~ Which smells like Hawaiian Punch, fruity-pebbles or berries or somethin'. Good enough to eat!

Aloha RIPer's~

Just took these pics yesterday after giving my wahines a bunch of plain pure RO water. I am about to do one more feeding of the FF Beatie Bloomz @ 50% (prolly) before I start the Cha Ching and finish them off. I never really push em too hard I just TRY to give em what they need without killin 'em or burnin' them... I almost always "under-feed" what is suggested, anyway...

I liked the looks of these pics even tho they are misleading a bit bc this (terrible) camera ADDS FROST, apparently. :)

All these here have been LST. The first three are Sour D, the 4th pic is of an AK-47 (terrible pic but holy-moley what will she look like in 4-5 weeks?), 5th pic of the same AK.

looking good girl, you hardly ever see wahine pakalolo growers, much less doing it solid indoor. nice job! looks to be a killer harvest coming up. i like how the smell changes right at about 5-6 weeks and the smells become really smelly :) aloha

ALOHA Highhawyn! (luv the name!)~

Mahalo nui loa for stoppin by and checkin it out. And you know what you are right about da wahine pakalolo growers. Why do you think that is? I know my aunties would nev'a but they grow taro and are in there/outside all the time so... Poi is yummy but pakalolo is yummier, imo. :)

No joke tho the Sweet Dreams smells like Hawaiian Punch and is turning purple too.
You think it was all the Hawaiian Punch I was foliar feeding her? (j/k~but it could be Hawaii's answer / version of molasses! <---jokin' brah).

So looking forward to gettin the full-on AROMAS!

Thanks for stoppin by~

Aloha Fellow RIP'ers~

Welcome to this GJ and thank you for stoppin by.

I have been reading thru so many posts and threads and am so impressed with what is being done here. For example, I just finished reading thru slump's "cloning 101-slumped & screwed" and picked up some good pointers re: cloning. I do OK, but his technique looks like it ensures quality and success and I luv that part especially, so...

One of the threads I read was re: bud mold (and to bud-mold I'd like to say ":finger:"... totally!) which made me sit straight up from bed and wonder if I had enough air circulation within my tent. Not suppose to I know, however, I did do a lil "bud-squeeze" gently, more to separate them from one another and it felt wet to me (could've been cold and perceived as wet, but...) so I took every1 out and let them breathe; this is no quick event I tell ya. They're fit in there in an "origami-level-puzzel-fit" and I did not wanna move them but I didn't this last time I watered which meant I didn't do the maintenance of removing dead plant material, etc. (guilt won).

They're just super sticky and now are well maintained again (I mean for me anyway).

Two days ago I gave the final FF Beastie Bloomz and that was at about 60-70%. They are a few more days from next feed but I made my "FF-Tea" today so it can bubble/brew and "oxygenate" (if thats even a word) for a few days: Strength @ approx. 50% of FF suggested amounts (I almost always underfeed-Tea is FF nutes @ 50% (bc this is what I think they need right now), +75% cal/mag in RO water and PH'd to 6.5). The last nute run I did was the strongest it ever was (@ maybe 80%?) and two plants have lil brown-spots (of death) around the edges from it, but nothing too detrimental and only on the two (weakest) AK's, weird... (I'll post the pic in the next frame.)

They are drinkin' more these days and thats fine bc finally they have stopped growing UP! I have more head-room but I didn't wanna push it. One less thing to worry about. *On a side note I will mention that most ALL the plants that i have LST'd have a canopy height of a lil over 12"; for the AK-47 & Sour Diesel Sativa Hybrids this makes me very happy (bc running outta BUD-Head-Room would really suck). They're NEVER as pretty as the one's without tho.

After this feeding I will begin the FF "Cha-Ching", which is suppose to increase resin production, and continue thru the next two weeks until "FLUSH" time. I did take some pics to post but I ran thru the last set and not too different then them. I'll post a few of the ones I think came out yummy in the following frame.

Mahalo nui loa for stoppin by~ (thank you very much)

P.S. I sure could use some links to, "how to correctly TRIM ur bud". Bc yes... I don't know how and the YouTube vids are scary. Please and Thank you!

1.) Mom/Baby/Seedling Tent. 2.) NEW Organic moms: SwD, SoD, AK-47. 3.) Clones from new moms (made 4 e. only need 2 best ones~ so mahalo slump). 4.) WW Babies @ 2wks. 5.) My "deformed" WW baby. (This may be the one i "helped" outta her shell~ oops, my bad). The tray on top is keeping warm and contains 4 e. of BC Blueberry, and BC Northern Lights. Next run I plan to make myself crazy-errrr and do 6 strains organically (roflmfao!) No stress there...

For some reason it wasn't letting me ADD more pics, hence the extra frame. I did not wanna jack with it tho, as anyone can relate to, typing everything up, uploading pics, and them BAM!:wall: ALL gone... That would make me sad (ticked off more like). So I'll just put a few out there for posterity. Thanks for havin a look see~ :)
