KK so I been doing research and I want to switch from MG soil to rockwool. But my question is do I have to use a hydro equipment. Or can I just stick to starting some seeds in some rockwool plugs and transfer them to some 4'' blocks with a big rockwool slab? And just use nutes every once in a while? Call me a newb or whatever, I just cant find this spec. advice on FAQ or google. No one really says u can just use rockwool with out any drip system or w/e. Anyways anything will help... Thank you..

Do not feel bad about asking questions dude. The dumbest question is the one you do not ask. I am 46 years old and have seen quite a few things in my life and noticed a lot similarites in folks. Some are ashamed to look dumb, so they keep their mouth shut and let everything go by. Let me tell you there is nothing like and old dumb fucker:spew:So you ask your questions man. Pay no attention to the assholes that hang in here. Be patient and learn how to do this.

You can't really do that because the roots will grow out of the rockwool very fast. At the point this happens you will need to start watering at least 3 times a day during day hours. Rockwool is used for hydro because the hyrdroton or whatever you are using hides all the roots in it and keeps them protected between waterings. What you are describing would leave roots exposed to lots of light and oxygen after about the 3rd week.

If you don't know what hydroton is, use google.

of course at the point the roots start growing out of the rockwool you could transfer the whole cubes into buckets of dirt and continue on.
