Abandon or Stay Loyal

Is this clone dead or am I giving up too early? It is completely pinned to the dirt but it is not shriveled up like a dead plant would be. Took this clone on Thursday. BTW I just sprayed it so its a WAP.

Not dead yet. Cut that damned netting and don’t use those anymore. They suck. Go buy a bag of Black Gold Seedling Mix.

I’ve had clones further gone than that when my dome fell off and they all lived. Stay loyal. They look as though they will make it

Tell us if everything is OK?
So I have 3 clones now and I put this one and the other 2 in the tray the seed starters came in and I spray them twice a day. Since I did this it has been looking better and rising up from the dirt. I didn't realize enclosing clones had such a dramatic impact. It's not the picture of health but it is clearly alive now. The other ones look a lot better because I put them in the tray the day I cut them.

Today I ended up scrapping this one clone. When I went to spray them I picked up the clone in the starter pod and the pod basically dissolved in my hand. I'm kind of worried because after more than a week I look at the plant after the soil bit the dust and the base was shriveled up with no sign of rooting. I've been purposely avoiding spraying the dirt pod itself. The two remaining clones look fine with no drooping and all green and were started on the 4th. Since these are only a few days newer I'm concerned that these aren't rooting either. Humidity stays at 75%, temps are 75-80, and I spray them twice a day. I dipped them in clonex rooting gel before placing in soil.

I am having issues getting these clones to grow any roots at all. I don't understand why they aren't rooting. They are always in a dome and sprayed twice a day. I had to bury another dead clone with one left (pictured). I need help before this one dies!

rockwool an option next time? easy to know whats going on. Do you slice the stem open with a razor? Maybe powder is better
Slice it cross over so it forms like an arrow in one side

Now you know why not. Better off with rooting soil that contains rooting hormones, those little jiffy pots are not for clones.
Yeah but I used a rooting hormone. Still no rooting. Do you think it would help if I removed the clone from the jiffy cube and put it in soil?

Yeah I will order rock wool I guess cause otherwise its 50/50 if the plant survives.

There are many techniques for successful cloning. The hardest part is finding what works for you, and most people get to their own method through trial and error.

I put mine in cups of water in a tiny tent under a blurple with a crate over the plants (to cut down on light without sending the cuttings into flower). I use little cutout cardboard flats to hold the cuttings so they don't curl in the cups. The temp swings between 65dF and 75dF, based on the lighting schedule, and I keep the humidity around 90% RH.

Two weeks later, I put them in soil.

This method works for me. Perhaps you can take some part of it, perhaps not. Cloning takes practice.

Again, it's common for completely different techniques to work well. I hope you find yours. Cloning is awesome. :eyesmoke:
