About a pound?

When you grow a plant, is there an 'average' of how much a grower should be looking to harvest? What is the difference between a failed effort and a successful harvest?

How do I know I've done a good job cultivating marijuana if I've never seen what a good crop looks like? This feels like trying to hit a bullseye that I cannot see.

This is a great question that ive been wondering myself. Unfortunately i cannot answer it because im in the same situation. What ive been doing is just growing and trying to beat my weight everytime until i cant anymore. Lol could take a long time but i can never really get a goos answer to this question so i took it in my own hands. First plant was 14g. Second was 15g, third was 18g. Now my second grow my first plant was 26g and my second was 32g. 3rd plant is only 7 weeks old today but i feel like its going to yield toward the 40 or 50g mark. So getting there!

My first grow i was learning to water properly. I over watered first 2 weeks for sure and also the soil was to hot leaves were really dark green. I also just LST it down but not very good. 2nd grow i had the watering pretty much down and introduced my nutes a little earlier. LST skills were a little better on this one. My third and current grow i could not get new soil in time so i sifted and re used my original soil and added perlite to it and did not re-ammend it so it almost felt and watered like coco and was pretty much nutrient free. I started my nutes after week one. I topped at 6th node, (wanted 4th but it grew to fast for me) and it blew up after that. LST as well so now i have 14 main colas and she is bulky and just started full flower a week ago. Going pretty good so far. Still a short and squatty plant but from what i read on the site i got the seeds from its supposed to be.

Edit- i also accidently supercropped the main stem on my current grow trying to LST it lol this was before i was going to top. But shes was growing so much i had to top anyways. She doubled in girth after i supercropped her so it worked im assuming. Didnt slow her down at all. She sits about 1ft 3in in height. If i wouldnt have supercropped she will be A LOT taller.

No there is no average. It depends on the size of the grow, amount of plants, lighting, grower skill, etc... Then you have to factor in different strains yield differently.

I've harvested six ounces to over twenty in a 4x4. Small plants for seed runs come out on the low end while grows for yield come out on the higher end.

Just keep your plants healthy from start to finish and you'll get the best yields. No need to worry about what others are getting.

I have been flowering in two 4x2 grow areas for many years now. Each grow is a little different but the last 2 averaged well over a pound per grow. Like stated above, it depends. But that is more than enough for a grow or 2 per year to keep me in good bud............

I am still looking for that "perfect grow". I can come close but no perfection yet. Last time I flushed and it was too soon. the chop was too late. Before that the chop was too soon. You never get a consensus here on when to chop or flush or not to flush......... or dark before harvest. But it is still good info..........

Each grow is unique and it is up to you and your experience to determine what is "best". There is a large harvest window and it looks to me that waiting gives better quantity but not necessarily quality. It depends on your definition of what is best bud. No amber trichomes and all cloudy? 10 percent amber? 20%.......30%? Taste? Scent?

About a pound? Maybe in a 4x4 area for me.

best regards

I just finished 1 plant that I vegged for 3.5 months, flowered for a little over 3.5 months, and im guessing from experience that she'll make 1.5-1.7 lbs. Just chopped her 3 days ago. It was just an experiment, but veg time, training, experience can make any harvest vary so much in yield. But generally, you'll want to try for that 200-300g per plant dried.

7 months for not even 2 pound lol...

I'd wait that long with outdoors (no choice).

Or

2 pounds + Indoor, every 10 weeks or I'M very disappointed.

It was just an experiment with a retired mother that I was gonna toss, but decided to just see what would happen if I did a long veg/flower. It's personal and not a part of my commercial op.

Potential yield is going to be largely strain dependant. Overall yield isn't the most important factor though. You could have a strain that yields 2 pounds in a 4x4 area, but it might take 12 weeks flower vs a different strain that yields 1.5 lbs in 9 weeks. Which is the better yielder? Often times low yielding strains are better quality than high yielding strains as well.

As a new grower, how am I supposed to know what 'healthy plant' practices are and look like? My plants are NOT growing at the pace often advertise on most pot websites. I got them sprouted on May 23rd and if I was to take a gander at how long it'll take to harvest, I might be lucky if it happens this year. No joke. These things are growing slower than molasses! I'll be in veg until at least September I'm thinking, possibly October. I've been in veg since about middle of June, barely any new growth. Plants look healthy, but they're not growing fast. Which is why I asked

With a bigger root zone (stomach) did you notice a bigger difference in end product yeilds/terps/solidness/etc.?
Not really,... just more yield. Top colas were on par with this pheno I've ran for the past 3+ years. I still haven't found anyone around selling this Dosi Whoa!, and I can't find it online anymore.. not that I need to, I've got a good pheno here.
