About to start my first Spore inoculation.

What's up guys/gals I'm on my first spore journey and am just about ready to order my spores. I'm going to get the golden teachers from sporeworks, if anyone has any negative reviews or know of a more reliable place or strain let me know.

And does it matter what kind of water I use? Every journal makes a point to use tap water, because of the buffers I'm guessing? I'd like to use ro water but if that's a no no I'll just use tap.

I only use distilled water man. Seems like tap water stalled my jars in the past.

Start with any strain that looks interesting to you. I would mix it up and get several. Find the experience you like. People seem to have a general like for golden teachers, treasure coast and PE.

I like the South American and Asian strains.

You can get away with tap, bottled water or distilled. You'll want to avoid the RO, save it for your plants

I used the spore depot for my first go at it. They have good deals too. I had 10/10 jars fully colonize without contams. Also shippin was quick like 4 days for me.

Great! I was going to go with one strain but I think I'll toss it up and see how it goes. Those blue caps look wicked.

Let me ask you, why would I want to avoid Ro water?

Awesome! May I ask how many syringes you used for 10 jars? And what was your yield like being it was your first time?

Because the tap water is going to have beneficial chemicals and minerals for mushroom cultivation. Some chlorine is going to help in the amount present. I usually add some h2o2 to my misting and dunking water anyways. You would be fine using ro for your soaking and pre pasteurization field moisture soaking, though I wouldn't recommend it for misting or dunking. Going to be another vector for contams. I would use the waste water from the ro filter all around, before It use the ro water.

I used one syringe for 10 jars. Also I forgot to mention that if you buy two you get a free one from the spore depot. I actually haven't had a yeild yet ill be birthing my jars in the next day or two

Golden teachers are a great first grow. I am doing cambodians atm. Check out my Cambodian pftek thread for some nice pics.

I figured this was the case, I don't use straight ro for the plants I cut my tap with ro half and half so I'll use that. As for chlorine and h202 and all that I'm not really sure and will skip that and just do the dunk and roll.

Wow! All your jars inoculated from one syringe? I'm definitely going to buy one the first time and do a micro run on 8-10 jars. The Next time I'll step my game up and run 4 syringes worth

Awesome! Your grown is looking great man! Very beautiful caps you have there...I've read through a good amount over at shroomery and the golden teacher seems to be among the favorites for beginners. Was gonna get one syringe but I think I'll get two types as I wanted some diversity, I'll still run 10 jars, just put twice as much as I would've In each jar. Should give me proper results. Would you recommend another strain for beginners?

I would only use half a syring for 5 jars. Other strains i suggest are B+ and Cambodians. Both are good. B+ gives me huge flushes. The cambos do pretty good as well and are some of the best cubes i have grown. B+ are more of a body buzz for me but still get some visuals. Golden teachers and Cambodians have amazing visuals. Especially outside at night looking up at a clear sky lol. You will love it.

This is what I like to read. I'm aiming for visuals so the Cambodians will probably be my second choice. Thanks for the advice!

Lol, that's the first thing I saw when I went on to spore works. Had me cracking up. I'll check out micro supply. How was their shipping?

Shipping was fine didn't take too long not long enough to bitch anyway. I don't really remember I used them twice last time was a few months ago. The first time I just made a ton of spore prints so I had no need to buy anymore but then I got a bunch of shit contaminated and through everything out now I'm finally starting over again.

I have had plenty chances to buy them but you don't want to go from pulling ounces off just your first flush in a bulk substrate grow to paying $30 for an eighth and once you do a quarter an eighth is just good, potency is better in a bulk substrate too. Not to mention bird seed is dirt cheap and I feed the birds. Lol, PF Tek is simple though and great so you can make your own spore prints and play around with it they only use a tiny amount in them syringes can't even see it but it's there.
