Adding Co2 - Please Help !

Hey dillest, I have some answers for you. You may or may not like them depending on your situation. In terms of air conditioning for a sealed room, you have three main options. From best to worst, mini split, window unit ac, and dual hose portable ac.

The mini split separates the condenser and removes all heat from the room very efficiently. There is no air exhaust since the only thing in the room is the cooling coils. It's the most efficient and quietest form of cooling, but also the most expensive. As a rule of thumb you want 3000 btu's of cooling per 1000 light. Buying and installing a 12000 btu mini split will set you back at least 1500. And this is a job you can NOT do yourself. You need a professional hvac guy.

The best alternative is a window unit. The condenser uses outside air to cool the machine parts and inside stays where it should, inside. There is minimal leaking, mostly around the window itself. It's efficient and effective at the job. The main problem is one, if you're in the basement you probably have few windows and even if you do this will look suspicious. Also, if you're in a cold climate they tend to freeze in winter.

And now I bring you to the cheapest, easiest, and least efficient method of cooling. One I finally decided on for myself. There are two must have amenities if you want a portable air conditioner. First and most importantly, it must be a dual hose system. Secondly, it's very helpful to have a system that exhausts water vapor instead of emptying a bucket of condensation every day. The dual hose system sucks air in to cool the machine, and exhausts it back out with the second hose in a closed loop. There is little to no air transfer, but you do still need a place to exhaust. As long as you seal that well, you're good. It's not very efficient, and quite expensive in electric, but it does the job.

Hope this helps!
Just a side note, "3k BTU of cooling per 1000w of light", I think that assumes non air cooled lights. In my sealed room, im expecting to need AC in the summer. A portable is really my only option as another condenser or exposed AC unit would be suspicious as Destillat pointed out. On the same note you can't really overdo A/C.

I do the same thing with filtering, just a fan sitting on the can recirculating room air. Actually recently starting pumping that fan to my Veg room to send some CO2 there. NG supplied CO2 is dirt cheap, so don't care about a little waste. My water cooled burner doesn't even seem to be kicking on that much more often.

For humidity, I do run a 70 pint dehum now which maintains about 40% running 24/7. It was closer to 55-60% with no dehum, but my CO2 gen creates water vapor in the room as well.

Thanks for the info. Looks I need to save 1500+ to have a mini split installed on the side of my house outside my room by summer time. I am in a mmj state & have my card, so I will just move the plants when they do it. Not to worried about them knowing what it is for.

Save your $$, there is no documented evidence that carbon dioxide does anything.
1) I ran my room before without Co2, then added the last grow, and I have to tell ya, it does alot
and basic plant growth and photosynthesis rely on Co2,

"Co2 is the one of two raw materials required for plant photosynthesis. (water is the other) Cannabis uses Co2 in the presence of light. photosynthesis occurs immediately after the plant receives light. The plant starts mining Co2 from the air by opening its stomata, tiny organs found on the leaf surface primarily on the underside. they function like pores."

this allow thicker stalk more foliage growth etc. basically a stronger and happier plant.

so i would install it and see for yourself..

...no evidence so one didnt pay attention in biology...

If you run your exhaust only once an hour id be scared of humidity build up..... i run Co2 and my humidity quickly builds up very fast i use a 50 pint Dehumid. 24/7 to keep my humidity under 60%

elevate the dehumidifier up to the ceiling and it will work better

I need to clean out this old dehumidifier I have from the 90's, seems to still be working as the coils get literally ice cold

Mines already as close to the ceilling as it will get
I can't understand how I can get away with what I'm doing right now, not venting at all and humidity is staying below 70% and I'm going through 5 gallons a day. It should be `100%... maybe my hygrometer is messed

I just tried to hook up my 175 cfm fan to vent the 165cf room and nothing happened... temperature was the exact same after 10 minutes lol. good thing its a good temperature, but now I know I'll need a bigger fan to drop the temps if needed

i go through 5 gal every other day with 30 plants in 2l my max capacity is 60 so i can see using 5 gal a day on some large plants easy with co2 especially

i keep mine at 85 and im dumping almost a gallon of water out my dehumidifyer every two days.....

Are you watering your plants almost a gallon every two days as well?

The two should correlate. My "sealed" room, must not be very sealed at all, because I havent been running a dehumidifier and the humidity is staying below 65%. But it is sealed enough that the CO2 only kicks on here and there, so I'm happy.

I have been doing some reading. Anyone with a sealed room should look into ethelyne, it's the gas emitted by ripening bananas. Your plants also emit quite a bit of it when CO2 is enriched and if your room is 100% sealed it can build up and cause problems for the plants. So I actually don't mind my room not being fully sealed for this reason

Don't dump your water from the dehumidifier on your plants! You will need to add calmag and shit grows in the dehumidifier that you don't want flying around in a grow room. You dig?

I water every 3-4 days and right now im doing 5gallons of water for 4 5gallon pots....... My room is VERY sealed if it wasnt for my dehumidifyer id have 85% Humiditiy and up....
