Adding PH up and down after adding nutes

Hello,

Noob question. I'm growing in a tent indoors using soil... After I mix up the nutrients in a 1 gallon jug can I add the ph up or down to the same gallon of water? I keep seeing mixed reviews. I'm currently in flower and don't want to mess anything up. Please help!

What mixed reviews are you seeing?!? If your pH is off, of course you add up or down to correct it.
Unless of course you just want to set the bottle of up or down next to your plant and wait for it to work by osmosis. That usually takes too long though.

Thanks for the insight. The mixed reviews are saying that I should either mix the PH up after I add the nutes in the same gallon of water. And then there's other people who say that you should just add the PH up to a gallon of water without the nutes.

They are more than likely talking about 2 different things. If your nute solution is acidic, add pH up to it. If your medium needs you to follow a schedule of feed feed water and your water is acidic, add pH up before you water.

I could see adding pH up to a gallon of acidic water if you are using very small reservoirs and trying to measure out the up causes it to swing a lot. At that point, you would have a very diluted pH up solution and it may make it easier to adjust your reservoir.

I hope I just made sense.

Yes you're making sense. So mix the PH up or down in the same jug after adding nutes. I always check my runoff water and it's at 5 (gold) on the ph tester kit. I just started using emerald harvest nutes. So I was thinking to add ph up after adding the nutes to correct it. I need it to at least be 6-7. It's been at 5 for about two weeks even after adding nutes.

You should add the PH up or PH down before putting in the nutrients since it is very acidic or very alkaline and that can mess up your nutrients. Same thing for very acidic or very alkaline nutrients such as silicate/potassium, you should put them first after you PH your water.

You’ll learn how to dial in the pH.

But I have heard that you shouldn’t add up AND down to achieve the desired range. One or the other.

Huh? pH up or down goes in last to make sure that the solution you are feeding your plants is the correct pH.

Yes of course, not adding both at the same time. Just was wondering if I should add either or after adding nutes to the same gallon jug. I'm currently at 5ph level

Mine with botanicare nutes comes out to about 4.8. I add just over .5mL to my gallon to get it to 5.8 +/- .1

My water after nutrients is always about 6.60, maybe a little bit higher. Just a couple of drops of down pH is what I use, and then measure. I know that gets me to 6.3.
