Thanks. The ppm has been dropping regularly, not by much, but arent you supposed to work on the idea that if the ppm drops you can increase the ppm? Will look into how to treat nute lock, if it can be treated.

Hi AH, i think youre referring to another thread, that was a different plant (AK59) which seems to be doing better. This is my other girl, a Sour Diesel. Not wanting to be a dick but i never set my pH to 5.2, i check and adjust it everyday to somewhere between 5.8-6.3. This bucket was tending to stay low, 5.7/8 and she continued to deteriorate, so ive set it a bit higher this time to see if she likes that any better. This SD twice had a massive drop down to 4.5 ish on two consecutive days which obviously didnt help so i did a rez change and it hasnt been swinging so much lately.
Thanks
.
Ill bite
Who is AH?

amnesia haze is my guess. or ass hat. or arse hole.
Correct.
Guys I need a plan, I don't think I have much time. My dilemma is if it's a deficiency or lockout. I'm going with lockout as rkymtnman suggested. From what I've read the way to treat this is plain phd water for 48 hours then reintroduce nutes at low level. Is this the way? Thanks!

99.9% that you wouldn't have a deficiency at 1000ppms. i would flush with plain water for 12 hrs, then dump your res and do another 12 hr flush. then start back on much lighter nutes. like 150 to 200ppms and see what happens. and dim your light if possible

Thanks rkymtnman, will do as you say but im really not hopeful, she is well on the way to being FUBAR. Damn. Never lost a plant before...btw have often wondered about your name is it somehow derived from Rocky Mountain Man?

Nice. Must be amazing up there, would love to visit with my skis one day!
But im thinking how ive over fed my girl, its possible ive not been letting it drop enough, and/or bumping it up too much. Eg my other one the AK59, that has gone from 635 yesterday morning to 535 just now. Should i let it drop more before bumping it up? And if its dropped from 635 what should i bump it up to? Ive probably been doing something like let it drop 100, then raise it to 100 more than what it was before it dropped, eg from 500, let it go down to 400 then raise it to 600. But maybe this is too much and thats how ive been overfeeding it...

here's the view from my house if i walk up the road a bit:

here's a different way to think about your feeding issues. your other plant at 600 drops 100 per day. that's perfect i think. if you were to bump it up to 800, it's probably still only gonna drop 100 per day. and then you risk overfeeding at 800. or another way: you buy a meal at mcdonald's and you only eat one cheesburger and no fries. if the next day you buy 2 cheeseburgers and fries, you're still only gonna eat 1 cheesburger

so with the other plant, try to do add-backs so you keep your ppms at roughly 600 and then change your res after 1 week or 10 days.

it's VERY easy to overfeed in dwc is the point .
make sense?

Wow thats amazing love my mountains, skiing in winter, hiking and mtb in summer, brilliant ways to keep fit and have fun!
That last point has been noted.
So the SD (the almost FUBAR one) has had 24 hours flush to hopefully deal with the nutelock and was given 250ppm hopefully she sucks up some of the nutes and starts to recover.
The AK49 seems like shes been feeding, 635>535>430 so she was put up to 680, pH5.9. But worryingly a fan leave had some signs of deficiency so i need to keep an eye on that and maybe up that 680 +100 or so but im just scared of overfeeding!!
Cheers!

what was the deficiency? if it's Mg (probably most common), start adding 1/2 gram or 1 gram of epsom salts to your base nutes. try to avoid adding all your nutes if you just need one nute.
He can also foliar feed which would be much more effective and work quicker without adding more nutes to the soil and getting a potential lockout having too high a ppm.

good point but he's in flower. not worth risking bud mold IMO
At the stage of that plant is pre flowering and he can get away with it. I wouldn't go spraying the crap out the bud sites but a methodical spraying under her leaves and over will be fine.

I've foliar fed even the first two weeks during flowering stretch hitting my branches, stems and under sides of leaves with kelp and silica to give a boost or get ahead of things.

Thanks for replies guys. WIll defninitely sonsider the foliar feed, can you do that with calmag?
Heres the damage on the other plant the AK59 which i noticed this morning. Its not like the usual rusty spots although thats how it looks, its a very uniform golden colour which looks different to the usual things...

So after flushing the SD for 24 hours, i gave her 380ppm (my water is at 150 so thats really 230). That dropped to 280 in 24hrs, which at least shows shes absorbing the nutes. So i raised it again to 450. I just hope she can continue feeding but im really not sure shes gonna make it.
This is the damage on the AK59:

You cant really tell from this pic but the damage is very, very orange. But she went from 680ppm down to 445 over a few days, so ive given her 730ppm, like the other one i just wanna see those ppm readings dropping to tell me theyre feeding and i can slowly increase the nute concentration and hopefully my girls will pull through...
Thanks!

Hello to anyone still interesting in this carcrash grow :-D im not keeping track of times which probably isnt helping but anyhoo...from 5.8/500 to 6.1/400 so again evidence she is feeding which is good. But the damage/rusty spots seem to be slowly creeping onto new leaves. A while ago amnesiahaze suggested it looked like a phosphorous definciency and having looked at some images it looks like a possibility (browning, leaves curling at edges etc). So the last adjustment i used PK13/14 to bring her up to 630 (having been up to 500 before). Maybe too big a jump but the idea is to give her more N.
Anyway heres how she looks this morning...cheers!
