advanced nutrients connoissuer

i been using advanced connoissuer in my dwc and pro mix runs for years now. just a -b and big bud at 1/3 strength. now i get a light perfume taste in all my stuff. no matter what i do. ive narrowed it down to the nutrients. is anyone else noticing this? id really like to try some new nutes. any recommendations?

Jacks, Floraflex, Mega Crop, Athena. Dry salts.

If you want something easy and convenient then 1 part Dyna Gro Foliage Pro with some Epsom salt. I liked to mix 50/50 Foliage Pro to Bloom/Grow with great results.

im looking for something that leaves the cleanest taste. dont care about anything else.

I'd be willing to go as far as saying that a well balanced, complete nutrient regiment will help a plant to have the health and vigor to fully express its potential, including its terpene profile, but I don't know of any biological mechanism that would allow a nutrient line to induce any particular flavor in differing genetic stock. If all your plants have a similar unusual order and/or flavor I'd perhaps look into other factors. Do you by chance use a product like ona gel to deal with odor? Do you burn incense or use sprays in your space? Just spitballing to try and get at the root of the issue.

I used to use advance nutrients until like you said all my plants ended up with that same magic marker chemical background but since I switched to dr earth 4-6-4 and flower girl for flower and a some seabird guano all my buds have totally different smell and taste like it’s supposed to be

I find that i get somewhat “noseblind” to my stuff. I have trouble smelling what others say they smell or taste. But if I didn’t grow it i can smell and taste different aspects or nuances or whatever.

I'd be open to the idea that a nutrient line may limit expression of certain terpenes, thus leaving others to be more prominent, but again, I'm just not aware of a process biologically that would allow a particular smell to be imparted. If what we fed our plants with directly led to a odor in the final product all the organic farmers would be growing weed that smelled like chicken poop. I'm open to being wrong if someone with greater scientific knowledge than I wishes to point me at some better data.

Don’t matter who’s right or wrong your taste is your taste that’s why you grow right? But I’VE noticed a difference

Consider switching from DWC to coco, just a thought. I think you'll get better results, probably smaller yields but better smelling, looking, and tasting. Less equipment, you can even use the same nutrients but IMO you should consider switching to GH Flora Trio or Flora Nova.

its npt a smell im getting, its a taste of perfume, even though the buds smell great and do have flavor. i just started doing dwc 3 years ago and still use pro mix a lot for new stuff etc. the strains i have are very flavorful and ive had most of them for 4 years or more. (fruity pebbles, apple fritter, ecsd) just a few. i just notived this last year after my first batch with new nottles of conn. im single guy with a old home and no real nice smells in here lol. ive thrown everything with a smell out over a year ago. even tried getting papers at another store.
ive been eyeballing pure blend pro and envy ab. idk, i do have bc and gn here to try in the meantime

I've been fuckin with a dry-vape lately, and I get a really pronounced perfumey-soapy first rip, every time, with almost ANY herb. . .. I think I get what you're saying. That perfumey-soapy vibe tapers off right after that first rip as the temp of the flower increases.

How are you getting that flavor, out of curiosity? Joints? Pipe bowls, bongs? All the above?? What are you using to light them? Might need more heat? Another possibility; you might be harvesting your weed a lil too early, consider extending your flowering times? --since I get a similar vibe when dry-vaping my flower, I think this is a strong possibility because I myself am NOTORIOUS for early pulls. Just sayin.

In short: Burn ur weed hotter, and flower it longer (maybe)

I absolutely love Envy nutrients, they are very clean, easy to use and not super expensive. They have produced some of the best smelling and tasting buds I’ve ever grown. They used to be pretty difficult to get unless you ordered them right from the manufacturer(which growing in a prohibition state I wasn’t trying to do) so I only ran them a few times over the years. I’ve actually got a few gallons right now ready for my next grow though.

That being said GH is a close second for me. It also produces excellent plants with great terpene profiles and no observable aftertaste that I’ve ever experienced or had a customer mention. Typically I got told how good everything tasted or smelled. I used the standard 3 part, I tried the flora nova and I even used the powered maxi series one time. I didn’t like having to dissolve the powered before using it but other wise I got pretty similar results from all three lines.

after a year of my stuff looking and tasting like crap (perfume) and chemicals. also burning my throat, i have decided to throw the connoissuer and advanced nutrients additives out the door! my runs of bc nutes are smooth and taste great! im also doing some test runs with envy and pure blend pro. those are looking great!

try using advanced nutrients micro grow bloom i use this for veg and bloom and ive never noticed any type of bad smells coming from my crops. honestly this last grow was amazing mold screwed me but i did dry some buds and the end quality was out of this world good using advanced nutrients.

its not bad smells... its perfume taste and burns your throat at 1/3 or less strength. ive used an for years and had ok luck with it. but as of right now i wont be using anything from advanced nutrients again. all my people complimented how much nicer everything tastes now ive used the bc!

did you use the same formula/ mix ratios of AN for dwc vs pro mix?

yes, but depending on the strain i was at 1/3 and 1/4 strength. a/b and big bud. 400-600 ppm ish.

Im sorry this is happening too you man. I just had a grow with advanced nutrients and had no such problems the only problems i had were mold lol. What is the bc?

its all good i think i figured out the culprit lol. bc is technaflora products. bc bloom and bc boost with awesome blossoms. i had it here and decided to try it before i ordered some envy and pure blend pro to test out. had to do something, i was throwing finished product in the trash!
