i didn't like canna for a few reasons, the micros are not there, and the buds did not fill in like with AN, not sayin the it's all AN, but it is working for me now. The bud was good just not great. JR

I couldn't agree with this more but I've recently added rhino skin too and drop all that other stuff like voodoo juice and anything after that.
Bare essentials AN stuff would be sensigrow a/b , sensiblom a/b , b52 and big bud.
I've tried both the connoisseur and sensibloom a/b and really couldn't see much difference other than I think the connoisseur causes more stretch so use the sensibloom a/b in the first two weeks of flower then switch up to the connoisseur after that, this is what I'm gonna do this grow since I just stocked up on sensibloom a/b and have some connoisseur left over.

Stretch with Connoisseur? Are you using a bloom transitonal product? Like Bud Blood or Bud Ignitor. I have been using Connoisseur for a couple years. It is recommended by AN not to use Connoisseur in the first transitional week of flower, due to it's strength. Then start the
Connie when the flower sites have established.

What I do in the first week of flower or transiton phase is I use Bud Blood, Piranha, Tarantula, H-2, F-1, Carboload, Sensizyme, and they get thier last shot of Voodoo Juice. Then in the next watering about 5-7 days (I use Sunshine peat as a medium). I add a weak mix of Connoisseur about 300 ppm. Along with Carboload, Sensizym, H-2, F-1, Bud factor X, Rhino Skin.
Next watering only has Carboload & Sensizym. Then I ramp up the nutes and add Big Bud as they are ready for the strength of Connie and they really take off and fill out from there.

Well said Tyrannabudz...

You're what I hope to be in a few years - an AN expert. Glad to have found you.

Drop the rhino skin it is the worst valued silica product on the market. Best is yellow bottle, followed by I believe pro-tekt and dutch master.

Have some friends who use AN (non-org).....can always tell when they don't flush enough...yuke....Stick to the organics
What type of medium are they using? When I was running Fox Farms Ocean Forest with AN I had the same problem. The buds had this very distinctive under smell no matter what strain. This was even with Final Phase. I have not had any issues like that since I have been using Sunshine peat moss. One flush with the final phase and 10 days later ready to harvest with no funk whatsoever. Buds that will stick to the wall.

How much silicon is in yellow bottle? Silica blast has 2%, Protekt has 7.8%, and dutch master doesn't list that info on their site. Some idiot on youtube was comparing different silica products and recommended yellow bottle but he was comparing the potassium silicate values, not silicon. :wall: Sublbc was his name?

Hmmmm, can you explain to me the difference? My understanding is the pro-tekt labeling is just breaking down the total 11.5% potassium silicate as being comprised of 3.7% potassium and 7.8% silicon...I don't know that this is an important breakdown as obviously the more potassium silicate you have the more silicon you will have.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potassium_silicate

from the wiki:

In horticulture, potassium silicate is used as a soluble source of potassium and silicon. It also makes the growing medium more alkaline.

Potassium silicate and silicon are essentially one and the same. potassium silicate is silicon bonded with potassium.

Completely off topic but speaking of idiot growers on youtube. Anyone ever seen this guy? http://www.youtube.com/user/gobigglobal

This dude has got to be the worst grower on youtube. lol

Just look at his latest couple vids (OMRI IS NOT FOR MEDICAL MARIJUANA).....LOL wtf?

He says in one video that his plants have powdery mildew because the seeds didn't come from sanctuary botanics (a company who is bootlegging other seed breeders hard work and reselling them)

He has a harvest video where he is harvesting plants at least 3 weeks early and swearing up and down they are at peak ripeness. (They still had white hairs all over like 70% lol)

His big claim to fame is he is a 100% organic chemical free grower but he uses a organic based nutrient not 100% organic. lol

It's pure comedy, if you got some free time I highly recommend him for a laugh. But don't take anything he says seriously because this channel is jam packed with bad advice.

The potassium silicate value or sodium silicate value only tells half the story and if I was trying to compare different silicon products, I would want to know what percentage is actually silicon. It's my understanding that these products are just a mix of water and potassium silicate (and/or sodium silicate) but the actual silicon percentage would tell you how much the manufacturer has diluted the product. DG dilutes less than botanicare and AN has diluted more than all of them (I believe they're at 1% silicon). Yellow Bottle claims 53.2% potassium silicate but is that by weight? Volume? And how much silicon is in there? I just emailed them so if someone doesn't have a bottle of this product on hand, i'll have some info shortly.

From my understanding (trying to find where I read this article but having trouble) the amount of silicon is always 2/3 of the amount of potassium silicate. So in yellow bottles case it would be 35.6% silicon with the remainder of the 53.2% being postassium.
