Advice Needed - 8x4 Grow Room

Hey everyone!

I'm new to growing so I have a ton of questions and thoughts. If I put two 1000 watt lights, each one covering an area of 4ftx4ft, for a total room space of 8ftx4ft, will the lighting be enough to cover that area (reflective sheeting included)? Are there any issues that I should expect such as extreme heat?

I plan on growing Blueberry or White Rhino for the first time. Is it realistic to think that I can fit at least 16 plants comfortably in this space with sufficient lighting?

I'm pretty sure this question has already been answered but I'm just looking for some more clarity as to how I should setup the growing space. Any help is greatly appreciated!

You will have heat issues if not properly venting. I might recommend a single 1kW light on a light mover.

I know several people growing in 4x8 tents and the guy going all organic with a single 1kW on a light mover w/ C02 supplementation outgrows the guys with 2 x 1kW lights with no CO2 every time. Believe his costs are significantly lower as well.

I find less plants does better than more. I crammed 72 into a 4x8 and will NEVER EVER do that again. I personally would do no more than 18 in a 4x8 but it really depends on how you're growing em - SOG, SCROG, LST, long veg, short veg...

an even better idea would be put 16 and one light in then wait a month and throw 16 and the other light in, and continue this every month. That way u crop out every month i would say im pretty dialed in and im getting a p and a half each month running bubba kush and the church

Thanks, Newbudz. I'ma definitely check those out.

A light mover? Damn. I need to do more research! Lol. Any recommendations as to what kind of mover I would need for that amount of space, Gastanker?

You used it with poor results? Or got mad at being raped on the price and just stored it?

The 3.5 like he mentioned above comes with a 2 meter track which would be fine for an 8 foot tent.

no but i will be doing one soon just had to tare down yesterday for a landlord visit but as soon as i put it all back together i will post pics, but ill be happy to answer any questions in the mean time

Gastanker..72 plants sounds like A LOT to be cramming in an 8x4...lol. I would like to go SOG in the 8x4. As far as vegging goes, I was hoping to let them veg for three weeks or so but then again, I have no idea as to how bushy these plants may get.

Crazy. I personally have never used one but everyone I know that does loves them.

Waaayyyy too many. It was literally as many containers as I could fit - really really stupid first grow in that tent.

see if u get the 12x12 pots each plant gets a square foot and 32 fits perfect and looks so nice and neat , i do about the same as u wanna do with veg, one week for cuts to root and then three weeks in solo cups then into there 12x12 home this way everything becomes perpetual and just flows nicely on schedule, also i wait til 2-3 weeks into bud and lollipop get nothin but fat buds and so much easier to trim

Daaaamn! There are more plants in there than in my back yard, Gastanker..lol. So what would you say you learned most from your first grow? Any recommendations as far as venting goes?

Newbudz...so you're saying one 4x4 should be for veg, the other 4x4 for flowering? What kind of lights do you use for your seeds/cuttings?

no 2000 watts of budding just start the other 16 one month later that way once the first 16 finish the other are a month old and only need another month to finish that way ur cropping out every month and not every 2 months, u only get half ur yeild each time but it keeps u with a steady supply of meds, i personally dont need to smoke anymore than a pound and a half per month dont know about u

Oohhhh I see what you're saying. That definitely makes sense.
Rotating your plants like newbuds suggests is a great idea. In addition to a monthly harvest you end up with better spacing in your tent - as your older batch is filling out it is able to take up more than half of the 4x8 while the smaller newer plants still have plenty of room as well. Great way for optimizing your space.

What did I learn... Cooperative grows are sketch and I don't recommend them - can never trust others like you can trust yourself. If you run large numbers of plants make sure to heavily trim them and to flower them very young - its important not to overcrowd, it will hurt your harvest more than help it. Be picky about your genetics. Preferably vent all air to the outside - when running large numbers in a small room you will have humidity issues if you do not. Bigger the hood the better.
