Hi there im doing 1st grow(Tangerine Dreams and Liberty Haze) Soil - 400w Hps - 90 DS grow tent with rvk125 extractor n carbon filter. Im 1 week under the Hps into veg they are around 3 inches tall, got them in 6litre pots, im using canna range the soil and canna vega flores boost and pk13/14 is all going to be used. Im not using the canna vega yet there is enough nutes in soil for another week, the only thing im not to sure is how much water i should be feeding them ive currently been giving them a spray until soil is wet/moist maybe 3 times a day and the odd watering from fresh bottled water maybe 150ml, does anybody use a 400w hps for veg and how much do u water each plant in this stage? per day or every 2-3 day? whats the best way without fu*kin them!!!
Cheers

Sounds about right. Spray to help keep the plants and the top of the soil moist couple fo times a day (prefferably not directly under intense light source as droplets can act as magnifying glass, and burn leaves), and as for watering, well that depends on the pot size. I guessing something small like, 3-4" high and a couple across (10cm high and 5cm across). The rule is to not soak it, where it becomes clogged and boggy, but not to let dry either. A good trick I use to look under the pots, the holes at the bottom show enough to soil to get an idea if it's too dry or still has moisture and can be left another day. Also, with these small pots, they have s little weight when soaked, like a small jar of coffee, but when the soil is too dry, it almost feels like there is no weight in your hand.

Also you should pour the water on the top of the soil fairly slowly, and you should see it soak down nicely. If when you water, it runs straight through the soil and out the bottom, then it's either gotten too dry and can't absorb the water quick enough, or already fully saturated and can't hold any more, but which of these it is, should be obvious.

Hope that helps

Thanks for that, it clears it up for me on what to give them. Im going to give it 2 cups of water each later on and leave that part of the watering for day or 2 and ill keep spraying soil to keep moist as tht light dries it up abit.
Ive not gave them a big watering yet and had no run off from pots, the canna soil has abit moisture in it and as i says i have been keeping moist on top every few hours, enough to soak into the soil not just to make the top look moist if u get me! so will that way i says be okay then?
Thanks for the reply

Maybe too regular spraying every couple of hours. I'm no expert, but I imagine that would slow the development of the roots as they have less need to search for water. Other then that it all sounds good. :)

You can keep seedlings moist all the time for awhile but soon, its not really a schedule you come up with so much as it should be on the plants terms and different strains drink differently. When they're past the seedling stage let them tell you when they need water and learn to get a feel for whatever kind or size of pot you are using and you can soon tell when it feels light and needs water. Try not to water them until they need it

Thanks there, i have been basically waiting until it drys up until ive watered it and its going well growth wise new leaves every other day. The Liberty Haze is going quick, ill get them into a routine further on a few weeks, im going to transplant them 1 more time in a few weeks from 6 litre - 1.3 gals, to 10 litre pots 2.1 gals

I'm using 400w hps from start with my new seedlings i don't like it much(stretching) VS the 400w MH i started my other plants with. But you should water when ever the crust is dry and the pot is light plus i spray my seedlings a few times a day for a week then i stop.
