AeroGarden Grow - Start To Finish

Right on...

Here's something to keep in mind on the next grow..

there is a major difference. an inter-sexed plant is basically a female that spits out a few male pods. these pods seem to emerge from calyxes as far as i can tell. they are NOT a true male flower. they are 1 single flower out of a pod that usually caries numerous flowers. they are not contained within the typical male pod. these are NOT hermies. these are simply female plants that are experiencing some type of stress. their inner works are telling then that their environment is unstable and they need to do whatever they can to reproduce. this is why females will do this. it insures them that they will get pollinated and produce seed for next year.

a "hermy" is a plant that carries BOTH the male and female genes. they will most commonly show both sexes from the start. often showing male and female flower clusters on the same branching. these plants will have clusters of male pods. they will appear as the typical male flower. i have seen them with male on one side and female on the other. these are "true" hermies.

as far as seeds go....... i personally feel seeds from a female that shows 1 or 2 male pods are ok to use. i don't think they will grow out to be true hermies. they may have hermy traits embedded in them but i don't think it is too critical. seeds from a plant that show male and female flowers, or true hermies, i feel are unstable. these are probably seeds that were self bred over numerous generations. i feel that if you can find a seed or 2 in an otherwise seedless female that you can breed out the traits that caused it to self pollinate. possibly just by breeding it with itself under stable conditions for a generations or 2.

just something that's been banging around in my skull for awhile. take it for what it's worth. it's all just opinion.:blsmoke:
That was taken from fdd2blk.

I'm very determine to see what my Aerogarden can do with no help. Instead of using ungerminated seeds like I did the first time around, I germinated them this time. So I have 3 more Jack Herer seeds germinated & planted in the AG. I should have pics of some seedlings in a couple of days. Let's hope we can find a female this time...

I dig this concept/grow myself. (I ordered an AG for cloning and herbs. Just waiting on it)

Would you feel using the AG as-is with clones is cheating?

yeah I think it would be perfect for clones
I'm not out to hijack.

I ordered it to make clones. (might leave one in for giggles)

I like this thread. What can a stock AG do. (just thought a clone might be cheating on that concept)

(I wanna do a full MG grow; soil and nutes. Just hate when people say "xxxx is shit!")

shit man, I've seen some killer lookin buds on this site that were said to be grown in MG soil. I'm sure you can get something good from it.

post some pics on my thread when you get the clones going in the AG...

ok day 3 from planting the seeds and I have 3 little jack herer sprouts. no way in hell it's gonna be 3 males again!! I'll give them a small amount of nutes in a week or so, for now they're getting plain old distilled water.

yes I'm using rockwool instead of the sponges that the AeroGarden comes with. On the left side of the pic is the 1" rockwool cube that I start with and on the right you can see how it looks after I cut it down to fit the AG using a sponge as a template.

I'm exactly 3 months into a grow, just using the Aero supplies put 2 seeds in each of the central 3 pods (i would only put 1 each next time) and 3 weeks ago went with the 12/12 on a timer with a figure 8 cord and now the motor is on salad setting. They are vegging like crazy but still no flowers - i have pruned them down numerous times - worried that i just have males too:( Should i have buds by now?

by 3 weeks you should at least be able to see if they're male or female but some plants do take longer. when the lights are out is there any light at all exposed to the plants? It needs to be complete darkness when the lights are out, any light at all will effect the plants and possibly prevent them from flowering.

no problem at all bro...I bought it directly from aerogarden but I think you can even get them at wallmart. I have the deluxe and I believe it was right around $225 but I can't remember exactly. I think it's a pretty good investment though I've only produced males in mine so we'll see once I flower a female in it...lol

Here they are on day 7. They're starting off slow just like their sibblings did. Just for clarification, I consider day 1 the day I planted the germinated seeds, not the day they sprouted. I think the last pic is my runt...

I use the hydroton because it covers the rockwool and prevents algae from growing and it works to prop up the seedlings if they lean at all.

Day 15 from planting the germinated seeds. Sorry it's been a while since my last update. They're growing so incredibly slow I didn't really see the need for one...lol

I just started giving them nutes a few days ago and I have it at half strength (286 PPM). Other than being tiny, there's no issues with them, they seem healthy. I'm shooting for 3 females this time...lol. If I can get 3 out of 3 males last time around why can't I get 3 out of 3 females??

I cant believe you guys arent putting foil on the surface to reflect light. Just cover surface with foil or mylar and cut some holes.
