I would like to know ithe effects of putting my timer 15 on and 45 off. Or if some one can sugest a timing schedule, I've read that 1on 5off is good, problem I'm haveing a hard time finding a digital timer that is able to handle that. Any sugetstion are welcome.

Thanks

ebay has a timer that will do the intervals you want. but i also currently am using 15 on 15 off with good results

1 on 5 off is what i've always heard. it only takes about 5 mins for the roots to start to get dry thats when you hit them again for maximum intake.

30 on 60 off doesn't sound right. The point of the 1 on 5 off so so you saturate your roots then let them dry some so they can take in more nutes more often.

15/45 and i just changed to 15/60...yea the best is 1/5....reason i changed is im close to harvest and the roots got large and when they are sprayed every 30-45mins they are always soaking wet holding a lot of water and they got a bit darker

well 30 on 60 off does work, even if it's not perfectly optimal, just check my grow. And it's not really about more nutes more often, it's more about oxygen uptake in the root zone. Once you are providing optimal nutrients, lighting, temperature, humidity, etc. then the usual determining growth factor is root zone oxygen uptake or c02 levels. Hanging the roots in the air provides them with maximum aeration. As long as your roots aren't dry by the time the pump comes back on then they still have nutrient rich water availiable to them while still receiving maximum possible oxygen. As long as they arent dying they arent drying. If they have reached the res and are sitting in water like many diy aero then they never stop having water and nute availiable.
Imho, i don't understand the one on five off. Not denying that it obviously works, it's just that in my experience my roots would still be dripping after only 5 mins off. A system that constantly has a recirculating film of water on the roots is called NFT, and i've never seen the big difference between it and 1 on 5 off aero. People with ebb and flow only water a few times a day, and they dont have lack of nute problems.

Heat is the #1 reason people run the pump on a timer.

Theoretically aeroponics will provide enough o2 to the roots, that they should not need a "drying out" time, like as is required with soil or ebb and flow hydroponics.

However, it seems that the problem isn't the lack of o2, but the fact that when roots are soaked consistently, they tend to mat together. When the roots are fluffy and spread out, they grow many tiny little white hairs that are very effective at absorbing water, nutes and o2. When they become matted, you will see less of these fine root hairs and the plants will not grow as fast.

So, the #2 reason would be to allow the roots time to dry out, not to provide o2 in and of itself, but to allow the roots to "fluff up" again(which they will not do if being sprayed constantly).
The standard is 1/5. This may not be optimal for cannabis. It does ensure the roots never dry out too much and that not enough spray accumulates to cause matting.

It's likely that even different strains would prefer different timings, depending on how damp of a climate they'd originated from.
