afraid of my own hps bulb :P

i just got me a new 250w hps bulb
im growing in a pretty small closet 75X46X36cm
i still dont have any type of cooling for now but im planing on adding 2 fans (1 for intake and 1 for outake) and i dont have a cooltube, just a reflector.

i have no idea if the 2 fans would be enough to cool the hps bulb but im afraid i cant spend more at this time
i still want to give it a try and see if it works but i never worked with hps bulbs and im afraid the bulb would explode of overheating and cause a fire, what makes me afraid of leaving the bulb on while im away or asleep

so my question is if a hps bulb can explode from overheating if it doesnt have the right cooling system, and if the explosion can create a fire or its kinda like a normal bulb

i should have gone with cfl's in the first place, but now its too late....

You do not have to COOL your bulb, it will NOT explode. But it can kill your plants if it gets Too hot.

if the bulb blows on u at anytime that means it was a terrorist attack =P with a 250 watt you have no worries.

yah, i agree.. an hps bulb won't blow up because it gets too hot.. like someone else has stated already, the worst thing that could really happen is that your plants can get fried and die from the heat..
i do understand where you coming from though as i live in an old house and the first time i turned on my 250 watter, i kept waiting all night at work to get a phone call from the fire dpt, telling me that they just put my house out, lol.. it never happened, tg, and i now have zero worries about leaving the house with the light on..
