Ah bag seeds, and my first grow...

To be honest I'm a little ashamed of this grow, and wasn't even going to start a thread for it. But I figure its my first and really, whose first grow ever goes that well?

Anyway, I started a plant about 2 months ago because my roomie has been promising me he'll go get his green card...He has yet to follow through. Meanwhile I've planted another 4 seeds about 3 weeks ago. They're all growing in my closet till we get some things taken care of in the future grow room, get lights, and the rest of the massive list of stuff there is to get! Since I'm being forced to house them in my closet, without any legal protection, I can't say that I care too much if they all make it or not. That said, lets get to the specs!

They are housed in about a 30 gal fish tank right now, lined with foil,
with 4 23-watt cfl's.

The big plant was started in some low nutrient peat starter mix, and transplanted into MG Organic choice potting mix 3 weeks ago. The young plants were started in straight MG the same time I transplanted the big one. Side Note: I know MG is not recommended for MJ, I'm just wanting to get enough axilliary nodes to start a bunch of clones in better soil at this point! Eventually I want to switch to Subcool's super soil recipe, but I can neither find all the ingredients, nor afford them right now.

I'm LSTing the big one, hoping it will be female so I can start my clones from all her nodes! All the new growth looks good, but the lower leaves have been droopy, yellowing and dying. I snipped off a few of the fan leaves cause they weren't looking very good. Any clues as to the nutrient burn/defeciency, ph, lighting, ect that could be wrong? Like I said, I'm not really attached to these plants, so I'll probably use the 4 younger plants as test dummies soon, using 1 as a control.

I have a fan circulating air in and out of the closet almost constantly. They were on an 18/6 light/dark schedule till 4 days ago. I switched to 12/12 to sex them and weed out any males. The top of the main cola of the large plant looks like its starting to form a couple pre-flowers, but they're still too small to tell. I'll push them back to veg once thats all figured out.

I'm open to any advice, but I mostly wanted to put this up to be social, get to know the forum and actually be able to show some people what I'm doing in my closet lol! Hope you all enjoy, I'll try to keep things up to date!MG organic choice 009.jpgMG organic choice 001.jpgMG organic choice 008.jpg

Its a girl!

I was out of town for about a week, they were wilted when I got back so I watered last night. She perked up over night. I just checked all the plants for preflowers and found some little pistils on the larger plant. None of the others are showing anything. I might end up tossing the younger plants and just clone this one into some better soil. Either way I'm going back to an 18/6 schedule starting today.

Well thats the update for now. happy growing

Hey D.O., First, you are doing fantastic with only 92 watts of CFL. However, upon looking very carefully at your last pix, I see no female sign yet. Often, new leaf and branching growth will "look" like fem sign, LOL, especially when you are LOOKING for and wanting girls.
Good luck & good grow.......BB

Sorry, the lighting in my room isn't great for pictures. I took another picture and played with the contrast. What I see is a calix at the bottom arrow with two pistils coming out of it, and the top arrow are pistils from the next higher node. I'll probably try again tomorrow to get better with my camera.

My roommate said he gets paid friday and wants to get some soil. So we'll be transplanting soon, and once some of the nodes get a little longer we'll be ready to clone!

thanks guys:) none of the others are really showing yet, It almost looks like one has a couple pistils sticking out the top but I'm not positive. Does anyone know when the 'point of no return' is for sexing? I want to put them back into veg for awhile longer and I'm a little worried that the bigger plant will get stuck flowering if I keep the lights at 12/12 much longer... any ideas/suggestions?

Hi DO, I'm sorry if I "misidentified" your plant. I will defer to the younger growers, fabfun and realmaple, with the "better" eyesight.
I am subscribed and will be watching the progress. Good luck & good grow.......BB

all that matters is u tried to help a fellow grower and that makes up for not spotting it lol and for that im giving u +rep

Hey BB, no harm no foul! I realize its pretty hard to make out in those pictures. Thanks for the support though! This is quickly becoming my favorite hobby lol

Fabfun, good idea using the clone next time. Luckily I'm not in too much of a rush right now though. And that will be a lot easier once I have a separate area to flower. looking forward to that!

Hey, I finally have sort of an update.... I transplanted it to some better soil and as soon as I got it back into veg it was looking pretty good. But I pretty much said screw cloning and put it right back into flower. So a massive waste of time. But anyway, its forming some buds, not much sign of resin yet. a lot of the underlayer of leaves are dying, not much surprise. Also, I still have fungus gnats that came with the original miracle-gro I've heard covering the pot with an inch or so of perlite will get rid of them..? Its getting pretty cold in my room now, probably averaging 60s. Do you guys think I should cut out some of the smaller nodes so the bigger buds get more energy?

MG organic choice 039.jpgMG organic choice 046.jpg I haven't been keeping up with the rollitup forum lately because I've had other pursuits:) Tiss the season for Psilocybe Cyanescens around my part of the world! MG organic choice 050.jpg
Cheers!
